Have you not read the above posts? the decision isn't fully up to the coaches. They can't just declare they are using the rec center pools all day on Friday. They need to work with pools to be allowed to use them during the day, because FCPS is ridiculous with not allowing activities after 6pm. Most kids are not driving themselves. Just make kids prove their parents are driving. HS kids driving is a perk and a privilege not a right or necessity. Kids go through half of HS without driving. |
| Nothing is going to change with the weather between now and tomorrow, so it’s really ridiculous. They have not made a decision at this point. |
| The decision isn’t up to the coaches at all. They are waiting just as we all are. The decision is made by the rec centers and athletic directors. |
| I would think it all comes down to whether FCPS will cancel activities after 6 pm tomorrow and given that there’s going to be no change in the weather, it’s safe to assume they will. Given that data point, there’s only one option so I don’t understand what the big decision is or why we’ve had to wait for them make this decision. What new piece of information are they going to get between now and tomorrow it’s going to change the plan? |
I wouldn't pin this on the coaches. |
The coaches have no say. |
| Our coach had told us Monday is an option. My $$ is now on next week for timed finals squeezed in before Regionals. |
| Not true! Club teams have the pool reserved during the week and the last minute change is not possible |
Totally agree. And it seems obvious that there will be the 6pm cut off tomorrow (Friday). Now all swimmers are driving? That parking lot won’t handle that volume of cars and it’s going to be a nightmare. People walking on the access road from the field parking lots to the pool. |
Which district? |
|
National district coach told us one of two options. The first is the regular schedule, which seems a no go.
Second is a late morning start. Seems like 11am start, swimmers arrive 9am That’s going to be a nightmare. |
True, but you can have the meet during the school week in the middle of the day at the rec center between 9-3. It's inconvenience to lap swimmers and aquatic zoomba..... |
Where was this? |
|
This is the email to National District teams from our coach.
We will follow the schedule below IF and ONLY IF we are unable to proceed with our original evening schedule of swim events. There is a possibility that all athletic events will need to be completed by 5:00pm and allow students time to return to school and depart no later than 6:00pm. This is a contingency plan should we need to move to a daytime National District Meet. We hope to provide further clarification this evening once we hear a more definitive guidance from FCPS leadership. DIVE: 8:15am – Girls Dive Warm-ups 9:00am – Girls Dive Meet Starts 11:20am – Girls Meet Ends 11:30am – Boys Warm-ups 12:15pm – Boys Meet Starts 2:45pm – Boys Meet Ends SWIM: 9:30am – Warm-ups Start 11:00am – Meet Starts 5:00pm – Meet Ends |
everyone is being sent field trip forms/waivers from taking the non-existent bus. practically speaking, most take POVs or are riding with their parents. |
