Jewelry on very young children is for the parents, not the child. The gold bracelets and necklaces on young children are even worse. What is the parent trying to convey? It's not like play jewelry the child chose.
Trying to see the positives, but I can't. |
| If you circumcised your son, you don’t get to have an opinion on this. |
It a femininity thing in Latin culture. Why does a baby need to “look” like a girl? |
Most things are "for the parents" at that age. Did you ever put your kid in a cute outfit? Gmafb. |
| Not this again....so boring. Yawn. |
I consider this controlling and very ass-sticky. |
| The best age range is 4-6 before they start playing sports. I'm so glad we got my kids' ears pierced in Kindergarten because they have played year round sports since 1st grade and almost all of them require kids to be free of jewelry (swimming is the only one that allows earrings - but considering you have to go 8 weeks without swimming, that's also a good reason to get it done early). I always feel bad for the middle schoolers who are told they have to take out freshly pierced earrings for sports or they can't play. |
I mean white people put giant bows on their girl babies' heads and dress them in constant pink. Same thing. |
| Yep it's trashy |
You are equating a painful procedure with a bow? |
|
This is such a weird thread. Wow, never knew some people were so uptight! So many moms clutching their pearls, I see. Chillax folks.
|
Wow, what a classist, gross comment. "White people" aren't a monolith. You are labeling entire subcultures within the broad category of white people trashy while acting all high and mighty about how you wouldn't label other race's cultures trashy. |
|
What a dumb thread.
MYOB The US has way more problems than this OP like your DD's losing all their rights and becoming breeders. |
It’s white people entirely ignorant of other cultures and proud of their ignorance. |
| It’s cultural and the people calling it trashy are ignorant. My husband is Brazilian and ALL the Brazilians do it. From the wealthiest people with PhDs to the rest. It’s not for me and we did not do it to my girls. We also did not circumcise following the Brazilian tradition. |
