Is it worth it to you to pay $150 a day for pool chairs?

I don't pay for chairs, and that is a pet peeve of mine - I consider issues getting a chair when selecting hotels if I know about it in advance. That said I'm fairly flexible and will sit far away if needed.

I would do it for select days. would be nice not to have to worry about it. Or you could two chairs and let the other two be more ad hoc. my kids wont sit with me anyway

I'm having flashbacks to our trip to Aruba. This was exactly why I would never go back to that resort (Marriott with the lazy river, not the one next door). It was a total sh!tshow.

We recently went to the Sands at Grace Bay in Turks and Caicos and I've never experienced a resort with such plentiful chairs, both poolside and beach. Such a better situation.

In this case, I'd buy the chairs.

I guess one question is whether the resort where you need to pay to reserve chairs is more than &600 cheaper than the resort with lots of chairs. If so, I’d probably just pay it.

In reality, I don’t like to sit pool side. When I travel with my sister, she sends her husband at 7 am to snag chairs. I generally hate just sitting in the sun by a pool so it’s not worth it to me. I swim and then go for a walk in the beach to dry offf and would generally rather read in my room.

Is it a bunch of dad bros in brown flip flops with sunglasses on their heads getting up early to snag chairs while their fat wives sleep? I'm trying to imagine the scene there because I thought the chair things (sunbeds) was more a European problem. Trying to imagine competitive Americans and it's making me quite ill.

Lol, I’m the fat wife and I secured the beach umbrella (not pool chairs) each day in Aruba. You could pay, but there was also a small number set aside that you could sign up for each day for free. They’d release the umbrella reservations at 6am and you could book them on their app or at a stand on the beach. By 6:15-6:20, the free ones were all booked. This was a decade ago.

I know OP is locked into this particular resort, but for next time there are ones where the chair game isn't a thing (Secrets or Excellence).

I do this too. It's pretty obvious which chairs belong to people currently at the pool vs. the ones being "saved".

Was Aruba at spring break? I looked at the Sands, but the reviews are not great.
