I would for one day only bc the chair situation also makes me so angry, but I also would not be surprised if the 'for rent' chairs are already sold out already.
JM Marriott Marco Island, I'm looking at you. |
That sounds like a vacation horror story. |
| Nope, not paying for chairs. Our neighborhood has a nice pool and the chairs are free. |
|
I had no idea of any of these chair situations. This doesn’t sound the least bit enjoyable way to spend a vacation.
So glad we don’t vacation like this. |
| If I'm paying that much at a resort the room is going to come with a private pool. |
These chair wars aren’t limited to Atlantis. Any resort where many/most people prefer to be by the pool (and the bar/food) rather than on the beach or exploring the island, you will have these issues (even at some high end resorts). I’m a beach person, so I can’t wrap my head around this vacation mentality. I’ve been to some resorts like this, but that was when I was younger. Now I’m careful to find better options. |
| It wouldn't be worth it to me, but spending the day sitting by a pool is not my kind of vacation. If you like big resorts and want to sit by the pool, I guess this is what you have to do. So in that case I'd just consider it as another resort fee, like I'm actually paying $1150 per night instead of $1000. That doesn't sound like such a big difference now. |
It's really bad and there are hilarious videos and memes about it. Usually picking on a nationality like Germans being the ones to hog all the chairs. I think it is universally bad behavior and a weird creation of scarcity. I am really shocked someone hasn't come up with a solution yet. It's ridiculous. |
| I pay to rent chairs/umbrellas when at the beach. It’s a convenience that’s worth it to me. |
| I have read this about the Grand Wailea in Maui. Fortunately we went about 10 years ago before this was a thing and had a lovely visit. I am sad that this is now a thing. |
I went to Baha Mar last year for a work trip. I did sit on the beach for a few hours (luckily no problem finding just a single chair) and it really wasn't very pleasant - vendors hawking stuff, chairs inches apart, loud conversations, heavy drinking. Definitely better experiences at the Breakers or Ritz Key Biscayne in FL. |
On what and just pull up with some cheap lawn chairs and put them front row? JMJ. |
Good luck with that. This isn’t even a high end resort. Check out the ritz dorado. Running $18k a night last I checked. |
| I'll just say it. $1000 a night over the Christmas holiday is not a high end pool/beach resort. Pay the money to reserve the chairs. |
We just go down when we are ready - sometimes it is later after exploring early in the day. If we are at the pool we are swimming so as long as we can find some place to put out stuff we just settle for that. Sucks. |
