Is it worth it to you to pay $150 a day for pool chairs?

If I want front row, I need to pay.

Good to know. It's not there, but I was looking at it for spring break. Thanks for the head's up.

What hotel is charging $1000 a night and forcing guests to either charge the pool at 7 am and lay down towels, or pay extra so you can sit around a pool?

Is this a Carnival cruise run amok?

The tourism industry is destroying itself with this crap.

It's not a cruise. I don't know if charge is the right word, but if I go down at 10, it will be difficult to get 4 chairs together and they will likely be off in the grass, not front row to the pool. There will be a line when the pool hut opens to get towels.

I need 4 chairs, and I'd like to sleep in.

Most of us just send our husbands down to camp out at the seats extra early.

OP: If you think that $150 per chair is a lot at a high cost crowded resort, wait until you see what the PE (private equity) folks have in store for tourists. Expect extra charges for pillows, sheets, locks on room door, and a per flush charge for bathroom usage.

Not per chair, for 4. Is that more reasonable?

For those days at the resort, my family usually sleeps in and then has a lazy brunch. We usually don't make it down to the pool until 1 pm or so - by then, some folks are leaving and the lifeguards/resort staff are also more willing to move "claimed" chairs that have been vacant for hours.

Dear God. I am not paying for crowds during my Christmas break. If sleeping in is worth it to you (it would be for me!), then go ahead and reserve the deck chairs, but are you sure there isn't somewhere quieter you could go?

Fwiw, I’ve never paid an extra charge for a chair on a cruise. I’ve also never waited in a line for towels (or anything).

But friends who go to big resorts centered around a pool often report this nonsense.

Unfortunately, I like bigger resorts with lots of dining option on site so I don't have to leave if I don't want to. Along with this, comes lots of families with kids.

Wasn’t there a thread like this where someone prepaid for reserved chairs and was furious they were way in the back or not available? I want to say it was Hilton Aruba?

If you are going to Atlantis or Baha Mar, good luck.

$150 per DAY or for a few days (for 4 chairs)?
