My read was there were about 80-100 families in attendance on Sunday. I guess they expect a yield of around 50% of those kids? Is that correct?

During the student panel we attended, Ms. Hinton said they are aiming for between 48-52 students in scholars next year.

Good question! I’ve HEARD that there are 40-50 Scholars every year in the program, but those are not official admissions stats. This year’s Scholars class seems bigger, but so does the overall freshman class, so maybe there were more acceptances than anticipated?

It’s bigger than that this year. My child is in it and says about 60 or so. I think the school had a higher yield than expected for this year. I want to say a freshmen parent night they told us they got over 1500 applicants and the class was maybe 325 kids? In my head I’d always thought the school enrolled more in the upper 200s vs well over 300.

During his remarks on Sunday, the school president shared that they had 1450 (I think?) applications total, with an expected incoming freshman class of around 325, if I recall correctly.

SJC had a historically high amount of acceptances last year. It will be interesting to see if admissions will make adjustments to get the numbers back in their target range. Sounds like they are still aiming for the same amount of Scholars that they have admitted in years past.

I suspect you mean high yield on their acceptances? I expect their acceptances are approximately equal year to year, with variance in class size coming from yield.

Haha yep! Acceptance of acceptances = yield. Thanks!

When should SJC be sending acceptances? Holy Child is the 20th and Visi is the 27th.

Do you know what the exact numbers of applicants and acceptance for that year were? I’m curious to compare with this year when it comes out.

I don’t remember the exact numbers, but can confirm that there are about 60 Scholars this year.

Is there any chance of getting into th scholars program with a 90 Percent HSPT and straight A's and fantastic in everything else?
Anonymous
I’ve heard they usually don’t consider anyone with a HSPT below 95 percentile.
Anonymous
Yes very true I heard that too.

My daughter got 92 in the HSPT and straight A's as well but did not get accepted in the program.
Anonymous
This is insane to have kids get straight A's and not the exact right HSPT score. I know a kid who got 98 on the HSPT and he gets all Bs and Cs. He got in!
