| I look at a lot of resumes for engineering type jobs and the kids right out of college need multiple internships to get looked at. |
| He should work somewhere, while waiting for his dream job. Who knows, he may end up on a different career path! |

Well OP is probably never coming back to say what kind of engineering so time to move on.
Yeah for sure saying what discipline is gonna dox kid, not. |
Hi OP back now-- sorry for delay! Have read all the responses, but over many different times as I keep getting interrupted. Life!
Thanks for all the advice! Very helpful. |

No one will have a job after 2026.
NVIDIA just had a conference. Robots are taking your job,s and crypto will be the new form of all payments. Thanks MAGA you did this. You have no idea what you have done, cult of stupidity. |
Oh! I like this idea. And then transition to a tech company as an Ed tech SME. |
I hope OP's kid is savvier than OP and puts WHAT KIND of "Engineering" degree they got on resume and job applications.

I recruited one of their engineer to work in finance, kid secured a banking job after 2 years making big bucks now. |

My son received a degree in electrical engineering from Binghamton University this summer. He was recently hired by Verizon..He is interest in Microwave (no idea what that is ) and his job at Verizon isn't related to that but he is super happy.
Good luck to your son? What field of engineering did your son study? I heard from my son that Industrial engineering for example is a "disaster" and engineering physics is "prestigious" |

Engineer here. I am not very familiar with the US curriculum as I moved here from France 2 years ago. In France, internships are integrated in the curriculum and we actually have very good internships with very substantive work. But weirdly enough, in France there aren't that many jobs in engineering or they are very hard to get. So they prepare us well with good real.world experience, but then no job at the end. My dad is American but I grew up in France since my parents were divorced. So, when I moved here and started applying for jobs a lot companies were surprised how much experience I had as a student.
But maybe if I had graduated in this current environment, I am not sure if my experience would have mattered. I have lots of sympathy for the kids. |
| He should take unpaid position for now and hope for the best. |
Please STOP with these unhinged rants. They’re unhelpful and irrelevant to OP’s post. |
| Look at the USPTO patent examiner jobs. Great entry level for engineering. Fed environment is rough now but hey they are hiring |

+1. Not at all helpful. If you must post political crap, take it to the Politics Forum. It has no place here: no one wants to see it. |
