I assume those are acceptances? Because the totals per year are huge numbers which are much more than the number of kids at the school, particularly given they send a not insignificant number of kids to public. Even then, some of the numbers seem extremely high.

I knew people there a few years back and several were sibling/legacy/minority at Dalton and similar. If you have any connections to K-12 or K-8 schools and are applying to Montclare, let them know and you are very likely to get in - improves their exmissions stats.

Agree with sibs/legacies at Montclare for Dalton. Maybe 1-2 get in unconnected. Monclare sends a lot to Dalton, but not as many to SS (that's more for PCDS and WSMS). Both PCDS and WSMS have new leadership team this year

I was very underwhelmed by Montclare. Not a ton of great options on the UWS but I didn't like it. I know a family who went from there to a TT school but they were pretentious.

Can you say more about your Montclare experience? Why underwhelming?

Sorry - should have noted that this was 10 years ago. It was fine. Not bad. Just nothing exciting. Leadership and teachers were OK, but not exciting. We aren't particularly close to there and we didn't feel it was worth the trek. There aren't a ton of options on the UWS so I guess it works. I think the exmissions have gotten better since then. We were fairly sure we were going public.

I am not sure it's that odd. These schools get a feel for who is coming/who is serious, versus who isn't, and probably just waitlist those with limited interest. Basically, they will hear from the preschool director (and Montclare has an exmissions director) if the kid/family is interested or not.

Not sure where this feedback is coming from regarding Collegiate. Many families love it there and they turn out great gentlemen.

Agreed. Current K parent. Very happy there. Have met many of the upper school kids - the maturity and thoughtfulness really stands out.
