Wait until February when the results are in. You will see more weirdness and a lot of bluffing and measuring.

Yes. Does that make it better or worse? πŸ˜‚

Odd Mom Out covers the topic well.

No, I think it's just expected behavior. It's self-selecting -- people who go to feeders want to go to the top tier schools (and specific ones at that -- some won't settle for anything less than a Trinity, Brearley or Collegiate) and there's unfortunately a quota. I'm sure you are normal, but there are others who make this their whole personality.

The snobbery can be unpleasant. For example, asking why would anyone send their child to PS6.

This is all awful. I guess this process either drives people nuts or exposes that they’re nuts but has been good at hiding it.

Sometimes it is not just snobbery. I heard a mom whose dc got accepted at a single sex TT but started bad mouthing other specific co-Ed TT. Literally saying why would anyone go to this co-ed TT when it is cutthroat and etc.

I suspect her ego was hurt that her dc did not get into that specific TT that she she started bad mouthing.

I also saw some parents spin lies saying that they got into TTs but turned it down even though people know they were waitlisted.

This is why I’m *trying* not to listen to anything said by a parent who doesn’t have a child in the schools I’m applying to. There is so much noise and sour grapes.

Not experiencing this at all. But we are at a downtown private preschool.

I remember going to an open house of an UWS feeder preschool mentioned on these boards. A current parent was talking about the exmissions process and their stress was palpable (I guess their kid was shy? per the parent, and so many kids were applying to independent schools). I felt bad for this person, but then I also thought to myself - ugh, I don't know if this is the best kind of environment.
