Oh, you're right: Des Moines School Board Chair Jackie Norris told reporters Monday that Roberts had been shortlisted by headhunters who conducted a criminal-background check. “There was nothing in the information that was given to us to allude to any question about his citizenship,” Norris said. Norris previously served as White House chief of staff to first lady Michelle Obama, according to the school board website. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/iowa-superintendent-resigns-after-ice-arrest/ar-AA1NCkAK?ocid=BingNewsSerp |
The what aboutism doesn’t matter here. He claims at various times to have attended Georgetown MBA school, MIT and a certificate course at Harvard (all likely untrue). You can’t get away with these kind of fabrications with a high profile public job. Query why Biden’s DHS took him to court to obtain a removal order in 2024. They had to view him as a significant political liability, which now certainly seems to be the case. Note he did not show up to his April 2024 hearing which resulted in a removal order thereafter. It is hard to argue there was no due process when the party ignores the legal process. He clearly should have obtained legal assistance years before. To put this in perspective, there are a number of qualified black educators with or without doctoral degrees who are qualified. Many are women, and no matter the candidate they have to be persuaded to move to Des Moines. And you can bet they did it the right way. |
+1 Because he's a liar and a con artist. |
My theory is that he had some sort of temp status with a work authorization and then he lost it along the way but he was already employed so they didn’t re check |
They are all in on it |
| Obviously not of his choosing but seems like this could work out fine for him. He's been earning a good living, former Olympian, probably has the resources to do well in a country that's not spiraling the drain. Feel bad for the people of Des Moines, talk about sh*thole country. |
That’s not what that article said. Why don’t you read it before posting salacious headlines. |
I know Jackie and she is telling the truth. I haven’t talked to her in a decade, but I know her from Lafayette and she’s a very upstanding person who is civic minded to the core. Her husband John ran for governor. They run their family with a military precision, her two oldest are in academies. She isn’t sloppy. |
Are you suggesting she's not sloppy but rather a "detail" person who approved his hiring anyway? |
Omg, wait until you hear about the guy your friends elected to be president! |
Let’s think this through…. Her husband was running for governor and her kids were in the public schools. Do you really think anyone is going to risk the fallout by knowingly hiring someone without a visa/citizenship? It makes no logical sense. She’s going to hire the best person for her kids and also because then she became a teacher in the system. Also, from a legal standpoint, Trump may demand Obama show a birth certificate, but you can’t racially profile new hires at that level. If they ask such a crazy thing there will be a lawsuit, that they would handily lose. Does that answer your question? I’m guessing no since you’re out for blood. |
She was sloppy with this situation. Lots of red flags but they still hired him. And she has the audacity to tell the public to practice “radical empathy.” Another example of democrats favoring illegal aliens over citizens. The board apparently knew he did not have his doctorate before they hired him but hired him anyway. Then, continued to refer to him as “Dr. Roberts.” They lied to the citizens of Des Moines. |
There are enough people on both sides who do not want eVerify. This isn't a single-partisan issue. Look it up and stop just blaming democrats. |
How can you believe this? Can you tell me what the red flags were in his file? Can you tell me who he was running against, i.e. who else was on the shortlist. He sounds like a conman just like Trump. It happens, right? |
He probably didn't even know he lost whatever status he had. If an entity like a school board hires professional recruiters/head hunters, that is usually enough diligence in terms of creating the short list. The fact is, they did the diligence and somehow, after the fact, this other stuff comes out. I tend to believe the right wing media is overhyping the story and circumstances, for example the "gun charge" is a very minor thing that shouldn't even be considered a charge, and yet, those second amendment loving right wingers blow it out of proportion. |
