No if you are an undocumented immigrant |
I've been assured on this forum that it is not possible for an illegal immigrant to register to vote in Maryland because the government checks for this sort of thing. |
You're hysterical. Why do care more about one rando voting than the person who very much looks like he wants to take away YOUR right to vote? Have you ever heard of priorities? |
Maryland says no one with his name ever even voted, according to the article. |
Yeah I am a little more concerned about people like Hegseth who tweeted in support of their church leaders musing about repealing the 19th |
When my DD got her license at 16 1/2, they registered her to vote. I thought well that’s a little odd, she’s not 18. About 4 months later she got a letter in the mail saying oops, she can’t vote yet. But they’d keep her name on the voter registration rolls and she’s good to go at 18. I suspect she could have voted before 18 if she’d gone and tried. This made my arguments to my GOP husband that no, only those legally eligible to vote are voting, a little tougher. |
PS - this is in Maryland. |
+1! Seems like he deserves an H1b visa. Good superintendents are hard to come by. |
Didn't they say only citizens can also be registered to vote? |
Prior Gun charges with a deportation order, and then continues to carry a gun on school property? https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/ice-arrests-ian-roberts-superintendent-iowa-des-moines-public-schools-rcna234013 |
| Is there a specific harm or injury he caused anyone by doing all this? |
He took teaching and administrative jobs in DC and Maryland schools that should have gone to eligible citizens or residents. He likely took a college seat at an Ivy League school along with scholarships or subsidies that were meant for legal students. Taxpayer money paid his salary and benefits for years, diverting funds from qualified workers. Parents expect role models in schools, not someone with gun charges, deportation orders, and false documents. Allowing this undermines trust in public education and sets a bad example for children. Being on Maryland’s voter rolls as a noncitizen raises real concerns about election security. Even if he never voted, the possibility erodes confidence in the system. Hiring him put students and staff at risk given his prior criminal history. It showed clear failures in background checks and verification systems. Letting it slide signals that breaking immigration, employment, and election laws has no consequences. |
I know. Why is MAGA so proud to get this guy off the streets? |
what exactly is the gun charge? just that he had one? I am still waiting to hear one thing that made the country less safe. He has very obviously done a lot of good. |
I keep checking the media to see if this is an accurate report. Because the people are correct, we were assured this could not happen. If this report is true, it is a guarantee that it’s more than just one person. And I absolutely care who can and cannot vote as should everybody. |
