You applied to college in 2007?

Um, what’s your issue with that? People did go to college in 2007 you know.

DP. It is an indication that the poster is yet another teen pretending to be a parent on this site. They didn't bother to do the math.

It's fine. They're suppressed to start adulting by now

There are so many parents on this board that are very heavily invested in where their kids attend college, but also a huge contingent that consider editing an application/essay “helicoptering.” As a PP said, editing (especially a different pair of eyes) is very useful. I remember my mom editing my essay va k in 1989 and I we were a pretty “free range” household. It’s not a huge deal, one way or the other.

Seems to me that the repetitive posts are from a teen who doesn't understand that not having an adult proofread their app is not a sign of maturity. They think the opposite, that they should be able to catch all typos themselves because they are independent and capable young adults. Typos may not make much difference in college admissions, but I hope they don't think the same way about their resume.

Two of mine asked me to read their essays, one didn't.

It was fine.

It's fine. Mine didn't let us see any essays until after applications were submitted. We just had a conversation about what she was including on the common app just to make sure she remembered and considered things she had done.

The only thing that annoyed me was that she applied to a school abroad in a country where we were not going to permit her to attend. What a waste of time and an application fee!

She has a job and used her debit card. We promised we would reimburse for all associated application costs.

We did not look at our kids’ applications. We also were unaware of all the schools our kids applied to - although they volunteered some and we went along on visits. A teacher read their essays. That’s all. They are both happily attending top25s.

“I don’t even know where my kids applied” is such a weird parenting flex. Do you not talk to your kids at all?

And also, why are you even on a college forum if you’re not even remotely involved with your kid’s application process?

On 3rd child. Haven’t seen anyone’s. It’s fine.

Can you do math? 2007 was 18 years ago.

So, you are pointing out that the supposed "parent" applied to college the same year their child was born. That is the math. Wow, they were juggling a lot.

This is how we know you are a teen.

Don't you have to get to class?

DC showed us the app in progress. We made a few recommendations. Submitted without incorporating any of the changes. Got in.
