Some may find pre-med courses easy; others not so much. It’s like this for any school no matter the major.

Absolutely. His/her kid was rejected and it still stings.

There are plenty of private schools that are ranked higher than either of those two. Penn State alarm love their school and that is a wonderful thing. I don’t think anyone from Penn State is claiming that it is the most academically challenging school out there, but that doesn’t mean it’s not a great place. Michigan alarm also love their school and it happens to be an academic powerhouse. UVA alarm also our passionate about their school, but there are just a lot fewer of them and this board attracts people who want to be obnoxious because we are based in the DC area.

I meant in-state like how Duke keeps UNC in check.

I fear this will make the UVA trolls even more vitriolic.

Ridiculous assertion....ludicrous really. Berkeley, UCLA, and Michigan are patently better than UVA and other state schools arguably are as well.

According to a C’ville local article:

Where UVA falls way behind its peers in the rankings. and has since these rankings began the new category in 2020, is social mobility. The category evaluates how universities serve low-income students, and UVA has traditionally fallen behind in this metric because of its relatively small proportion of Pell Grant students. The University of Virginia ranks in a tie for 173rd in that metric. The number is not too far below Michigan’s 166th, but is way below UC-Berkeley’s 87th, UNC’s 77th, and UCLA’s 30th rank.

I'm a Pomona Parent, so I understand how you feel lol. It's dumb that people put so much attention on individual placements year over year.

it doesnt matter most people who hate uva are nova folks whose children could not get in. At the end of the day the ranking doesnt matter at all. because they still have the best professional schools - darden, law school and med schools for their undergraduates who place well into them.

NOVA family here. We have a kid at UVA, and couldn’t be happier. It is a great fit for her. Also, the distance is perfect too. Many of her friends are NOVA kids, from different high schools. No downside for us. Wahoowa!

You're an idiot. UVA is consistently USNWR no 2,3, 4, 5 top public (depending on algorithms having to do with Pell grant numbers, which UVA cannot control). https://www.usnews.com/best-colleges/rankings/national-universities/top-public?myCollege=national-universities&_sort=myCollege&_sortDirection=asc), UVA is a top public school in american and produces more rhodes scholars than any of the other publics (with the exceptions of West Point)

Oh joy, the "sumary rejection" (sic) troll is back!

Actually, this list is finally closer to what the rankings should be. No more Wash U in the top 10, etc.

Rice should be booted, but otherwise it kinda makes sense.

And you are misinformed with anger issues. This list is pretty good and UVA is below all of the schools I mentioned and others. It is a very good school but you are delusional placing it at #2. Who is #1 by the way?
