UVA out of top 25

I would agree with this as a parent to kids at UCLA and UVA. UVA is 10000% a better undergraduate experience--classes are better, scheduling is better, professors are better, extracurricular opportunities are better, dorms are better. I could go on and on. My kid loves California and loves the weather but puts up with a lot of crap to go to school there.

Lol they were tied for 24th with Emory last year and now are one spot behind. No difference. They’re peers. UVA just costs less.

Not if you're OOS. I'm a UVA alum & live OOS now. There's no way it's worth >90k/yr for most full pay families.

And no way is Emory worth $90K either. Or Wash U or Michigan or Hopkins or CMU. I could go on and on. It's insanity to pay $90K+ for any of these places. And many kids at these other schools (minus Michigan) aren't even having a good time.

There are plenty of private schools that are ranked higher than either of those two. Penn State alarm love their school and that is a wonderful thing. I don’t think anyone from Penn State is claiming that it is the most academically challenging school out there, but that doesn’t mean it’s not a great place. Michigan alarm also love their school and it happens to be an academic powerhouse. UVA alarm also our passionate about their school, but there are just a lot fewer of them and this board attracts people who want to be obnoxious because we are based in the DC area.

The problem is Penn State and Michigan alums each think that their school is the greatest place. Not just a great place. Huge difference.

Not a huge difference. The UVA boosters who come on here and make everyone mad act like UVA is the best school in the whole country. They also try to put down other schools in the process.

Honestly, I would guess it's about quieting the people who act like UVA is the best school in the country and that those who don't like it or don't go there must have been rejected b/c everyone should worship that school.

Sickening jealousy in this thread

I don’t think so. I don’t really care where UVA is ranked and my kid chose to go to a different school. I do find the UVA posters on here to be more annoying than others and I have met a few people who actually behave like that in real life

A sumary rejection would cause my kid to go to a different school too but thankfully we did not have one of those in my family unlike yours

A higher ranked school

My kid went to a higher ranked school.

Higher ranked doesn't mean anything with these sham ratings, if they were it would be UVA and then the other schools tied for 5 and below

It depends on your circles. In my professional and social circles, it is below average but solid. Good enough.

UVa is a special place for UVa families. To all others, it's one of those who gives F kind of school.

My DD is at UVA. She is challenged, enjoys her classes and has a fabulous social life. So glad we are in-state. That is all that matters to us. 24th, 25th, 26th, 40th place, who cares!!??

They aren't UVA boosters. It's a few kids who pretend to be and act obnoxious to stir the pot.

Teenagers love to laugh at this forum and post to irritate.

I’m curious about her major. My kid has a friend who is taking a premed type pathway and their classes have been super easy so far.
