That is all that matters to us. Oh, and the in-state tuition is the cherry on the top! Also, cannot complain about the distance from NOVA. Up or down a few spots in the rankings? No biggie!

Couldn’t have said it better myself. Our son is a first year at UVA and the adjustment has been beyond all of our greatest hopes. He is so happy! I credit that to the school, the culture, the place and the students there. There is an undeniable spirit - smart kids who want to have fun too - there that seems to captivate kids. The fact that he is having this experience at half the cost is a bonus. Home now yet eager to get back.

Well said. I have a very happy second year at UVA. This school has it all.

UVA is off our list now.

If you wanted to attend a school when it was ranked 24, but won’t consider it when ranked 26, you aren’t smart enough to go to any college.

Frankly, you're exactly the kind of person that those of us at UVA don't want around: a striving prestige hunter.
You'll be much happier at a different school. Win, win.

Once they sign the compact they will most likely shoot up into the top 20.

UVA is spiraling after the president was forced out.

As a parent of several current students I can attest there has been no change over the past 2 months.

There are some dedicated and honestly disturbed anti-UVA posters on this site.

The reason "Run with Jim" and other outreach efforts from college presidents (like the one bringing pizza to the student section at a football game) get so much attention is because the average student (no counting students holding SGA positions) doesn't interact with their president or really care about who they are.

Back when I was in school, I only learned the name of my college's president when I became a tour guide. Most students had too much going on to care about what was happening in the president's office.

Good one. W&M has been dropping like a stone in the rankings. They are more likely to catch JMU than UVA.

All fine schools. Virginia has great options.

The presidents at top schools are often very involved and well-known to students.
