I have worked with very smart H1Bs and not-so-smart H1Bs too. With this decision, we will try to bring jobs back to Americans but will also lose talent. H1Bs pay taxes here at the same rate as the rest of us. We will lose that money.
Will this move make companies outsource projects to offshore locations? If that happens, we will lose money, talent and it won't solve the root problem. Time will tell. |
There is enough talent here. These companies already have plenty in their home countries so they use coming here as an incentive vs. need. They will just take the jobs to other countries. They like the H1B as the tech and other companies can pay them much less. |

Also, now everyone I know is just going to open subsidiaries or small businesses overseas, likely in Ireland or somewhere with an equally business friendly infrastructure and tax code and hiring incentives. This will all result in a net loss of jobs as well as a dumbing down of our workforce, big hits to housing markets in certain areas. |
They are far better educated and they can pay them less. |
