Thank you! So weird that presumably grown adults post some of these things. It’s like my teen daughter’s middle school mean girls lol

It’s pretty insane to go to a gastroenterologist after three days of diarrhea and for that matter, how did she even get into one so quickly?

My husband and I have both been hit with norovirus this week. Could be going around. Also, this is a weird strain: neither of us were throwing up incessantly ( as we did when we had it a couple of years ago), it was more diarrhea, nausea, exhaustion, and yes, stomach cramping.

Why is that insane? Now I have my results prob Tuesday or Wed instead of suffering for another week. I’m working this week and busy. Secondly, to get an appt you call the office and ask. Originally I wanted this week but they had two openings so I went in.

I have minimal cramping, no nausea and no exhaustion, no vomiting. But could be!

You're wasting everyone's time and money. Even if you don't care, everyone else in the same health insurance risk pool will when their premiums go up because of people like you.

Lol ok sure. I pay a ton for insurance and really doubt my stool test and office visit are creating some big insurance premium issue. Please be for real.

Everyone pays a ton. Health care is expensive. And inappropriate claims drive the costs even higher.

If this is your reaction to diarrhea, then I doubt this is an isolated incident. How many times did you see a doctor last year?

I went daily last year. Sometimes twice a day.

Cold brew coffee is going to irritate your stomach if you’ve recently had a virus, even if you didn’t have major symptoms, because it’s acidic. The same with beans. You need to eat a very bland diet for the next week and see how you do.

^This. You need to allow your intestinal track to heal and the only way to do that is to eat very bland/mild food. Be careful of dairy, caffeine, spicy food, and sugar.
.
I’ve had zero except toast bananas rice and I’m still
Waking up
With diarrhea and multiple bouts. No normal poops and sometimes have it before bed or during the night.

Honestly, it sounds like salmonella. My friend had it from a cantalope. After a week of symptoms like your, she went to the ER. She was severely dehydrated. Once she started the correct antibiotics, her symptoms settled. It took 5 months to fully recover.

Thanks - will see what the test shows. Mine is not severe but just every day multiple events and no normal bowel movements whatsoever. Wow- can’t believe your friend took 5 months!

It got to the point that every time she ate, she had to run to the bathroom. After a month of antibiotics, her system was wrecked. It took 5 months to be able to eat normally again. She lost 20 pounds.

OP here- my stool test was negative except my calprotectin was elevated. He still thinks infection and wants to repeat it in a month. He also said i could do colonscopy. Last one was 2018 - was on 10 year plan. My mother had ulcerative colitis. He said it was mildly moderately elevated. I’m sort of shocked- assumed IBS. My diarrhea stopped for 3 days and was back today but a little less.
