You would be hard pressed to find anyone who would pick Babson over Stanford…but they also attract wildly different profiles.

That's what I find so interesting about this. Kids are killing themselves to get admitted to certain colleges and maybe they would be better off enjoying high school and bypassing the college counselors and all of it for the same life outcomes

I was surprised to see my alma mater, Miami University in Ohio, come in at number 35 on the list. Back when I went in the 1980s it was much more selective than it is today.

That said, I think I ended up with a pretty decent career and even moved to DC because an alum was looking to hire an intern from there.

It’s not the same life outcome…but Babson is a 19% admission rate, so it’s not exactly a cake walk.

And what is wrong with a trade school? My number one goal with my kids' college education is to them off the my payroll. They can get a masters in medieval literature on their own dime and their business and engineering trade education will make this happen. And I hope that your model T starts this morning!

I never said I bashed Bucknell, I was just stating why it gets attention. It has nothing to do with some hidden DCUM jealousy, no matter how much saying that may make you feel better.

Coming from New England, I am not surprised at all by the list. I had friends at places like Fairfield, Babson, Bentley, and others that feel similar (Fordham and Providence come to mind) getting great corporate jobs.

DCUM people act like their personal lack of familiarity means no one knows these schools while everyone in the northeast is used to alumni from those places doing quite well.

Is MIT a trade school?

MIT offers 75+ majors (with hundreds of concentration opportunity within those majors) spread across STEM, business, political science, economics, architecture and humanities. A number of its programs across all these areas are top 5 in the country, with many #1 programs.

Babson offers 26 concentrations of which 18 are business concentrations and only a BBA degree.

It works for Babson, but you can't compare it to MIT whatsoever. A better comparison is a school like Olin which is 500 kids and offers only three engineering degrees. This also works for Olin and those kids have good outcomes.
