Those are febrile seizures. If a baby gets a fever for any reason, there is a chance that they will have a febrile seizure. So if they get a fever as a result of a shot, they might have them. These are not epileptic seizures.

Just wanted to add my experience. DH and I have gotten the flu shot for the last 5 years with no reaction other than a little arm pain from the intramuscular injection.

I am a chemist and pregnant and got the regular flu shot this year (in Sept) because the thimerosal is such a non-concern. Whomever said it's less dangerous than the methylmercury in fish is 100% right. You get more (methyl) mercury from breathing in the exhaust from the DC region's crappy traffic congestion than you would if you got 100 flu shots per year. Not to mention, the flu shot is intramuscular (not administered intravenously, as one PP bizarrely suggested), so it is not absorbed directly into the bloodstream only to cross the BB barrier or whatever claptrap they said. (!?)

Finally, I am SO happy I got the flu shot. As I said, I'm pregnant and so my immune system isn't up to snuff. Well, I caught a COLD and nearly developed pneumonia from it (took 3 weeks to defeat that cold). I can only imagine the danger to myself and my baby if I caught the flu this year! Here's hoping the protection is good, and thank goodness it'll help protect me even if it's not a great match for the viruses this year.

I have the actual seasonal flu right now, and the dr said she has seen lots of people with the flu who got the shot, so she didn't think this year is a good match. Who knows!
