I do not believe a word of this. |

OP here. I've had the flu shot every year for at least the last 5 years. My kids get shots every year too. I know it's irrational that someone would contract pneumonia from flu vaccine but it was still a scary coincidence and early in the flu shot season so I wanted to find out if anyone else appeared to have any abnormal reactions. What I was hoping for was for a ton of people to say they got the shot and they were fine. I just needed some reassurance this year. I've known 3 people who have contracted pneumonia since Sept. this year - it just seemed unusual to me.
Incidentally, my kids and I are all now vaccinated and no adverse reactions after a week (knock wood). Thanks for all of the interesting responses! |

Actually, OP, I've known quite a few people who have been coming down with pneumonia since August. I think it's just a bug going around and it doesn't have anything to do with getting a flu shot.
My son had his flu shot almost two weeks ago now. No reaction other than a red mark where the shot was given. I'm getting mine on Tuesday. |
Yeah, if this counts as an adverse effect, I've had this one every year for the last 15 or so years. Seriously, move your arm as much as possible after the shot to move the intramuscular injection through. It will help reduce the pain at the injection site. |

Got shot last year, woke up in the middle of the night freezing, shaking, sick to my stomach.
Got shot yesterday, same thing happened last night: woke up just freezing and shaking, didn't throw up this time. |
This. I've heard a ton of pneumonia stories in the past three months - no relationship to the flu vaccine. I got mine a week ago, as did DH. No reaction for me, a slightly sore arm for him. Kids get them this weekend (one shot, one mist). |
| OP, if you're concerned about pneumonia (and I'm not jesting), there is a pneumonia (pneumococcal) vaccine. It's unrelated to the flu so put that out of your mind. |
| im never taking it again.got it monday 1 hour later my feet felt like they were on fire 3 days later my whole body feels weak and like pins are sticking me.this is the 1st year i've ever had a bad reaction.myy 3 yr old son did fine though. |

Within 36 hours had a fever of 103.2. The next two days went through every symptom of the flu, including an incredible sore throat, chills, sweats, congestion, cough, and body ache that was nearly unbearable. Five days later except that my joints hurt incredibly bad, pretty much back to normal.

| Seriously, people, even if the "adverse reactions" you experienced are true and attributable to the vaccine, don't you realize that it's way better than actually getting the flu? Or risking getting the flu and giving it to your children? Thousands of people die every year from influenza, including otherwise healthy children. |
I'd rather have the flu for a week than unexplainable hives for a year |
I second this. |
| Got the shot a couple days ago. Yesterday I felt tired and like I had a bit of a sinus cold, went to bed at 9 pm and feel fine today. But I think it has more to do with the rain yesterday and my allergies. Oh, and my arm hurt a bit afterwards. |

I had a flu shot in one arm and a pneumonia booster (2nd shot 5 years later) shot in the other this past Wednesday (11/10) and less than 24 hours later I felt extremely nauseated and feverish. I was sick to my stomach several times during the night, with severe chills, bad headache, pain at injection site and a temperature of 102+. I continued taking ibuprofen every 4 hours and it's now been over 48 hours and Im still feeling just as bad. My health was perfectly fine prior to getting this shot.
I've had flu shots in the past with no reaction. Should I see a doctor or just wait it out and hope it will break this weekend. Thanks in advance. |
| Walgreens has mercury-free shots. You have to ask the nurse who administers them on clinic days; not the pharmacist. I called and was told they did not have them. I asked when I went, and they did! |
