If money isn’t an issue, Wallace Coulter is one of the best bioengineering programs in the world. You won’t go wrong with that.

phd in engineering is free ... tuition + fees and stipend

PhD living on stipend is not a comfortable live. At least 30 years ago when I was doing it. Go to seminar for free pizza. lol

It’s nice to save the tuition for your 6 year PhD. Particularly if you do it in a metropolitan area like MIT.

MIT pays over 50k stipend for PhD these days as do several other top programs(stanford, princeton...)

With the inflation, 50K is equivalent to what? 10K 30 years ago?

They are both fall-back schools, this is silly. Emory shot higher and lost. U of M didn’t have the chops for higher and used the ole’ want a big rah rah sports school experience. Can we be done now?

Strident in our view are we? Michigan is absolutely a top school for many students, both in-state and OOS. For someone interested in engineering who also values a strong sports culture, Michigan could easily be their first choice, not a fallback. While it may not lead every ranking metric, for that specific combination of excellent engineering programs and big time athletics, few schools can match what Michigan offers.

Umich eng is not easy to get in especially OOS. It is top 10 Engineering school in US.

Even if true, Michigan is still the better school today. And as a bonus it has real sports.

No... companies that used to recruit from Umich don’t anymore. BCG being one of them.

I have to agree with this - neither are anyone’s top choice - whether they ed there or not

Emory can and is a top choice for Southern kids who want to attend a mid-sized urban private closer to home and don’t mind not having a football team.

If you would like to have some fun, look up old BCG strategy predictions for an industry and see if they came true.

All of the big strategy consulting companies are in quiet retrenching mode. My friend at McKinsey just "took a career break to get in touch with family" after 18 years as a partner.

A quick look on reddit says Emory is many students dream school. DCUM thinks W&M is elite so your opinions are useless.

40% yield says otherwise. those who have a choice and are more confident go elsewhere

I had laugh at this gem. I'm assuming this is a bit of a troll, because who would be stupid enough to cite anecdotal evidence from reddit as authoritative over DCUM or another source for that matter.
