Emory vs UMich

Biomedical engineering is a tough admit. Keep that in mind. Michigan has less than 500 students pursing the degree. So, roughly 125 a class which means they only admit about 250. That is assuming that yield is the same as the university as a whole.

Both universities are excellent, but significant differences with respect to size of student bodies, location/weather, and campus activities such as football versus no-football team.

After visiting both schools, one's preference should be clear. Neither school is more prestigious than the other in my view.

Thats your opinion and thats fine but most private school students would pick Emory.

A kid who spent years in a small school will, many times, continue with a small school. Michigan would have overwhelmed me, but not my kid.

Compare that with UMich

Compare test scores, or post grad salary.

It's biophysics. Emory is strong in everything bio.

Emory has more prestige overall. If anything related to bio, go for Emory.
Engineering go for U of M. If you like sports, Michigan. Lol.

OP didn’t say DC would be interested in just engineering in general. She is specifically interested in bioengineering. There are better BME programs than both schools. JHU probably has the best BME program. Has she looked into that or a campus visit?

OP stated interested in ChemE or BME. Here you go.

It one of the trolls but this is just not true. UM is a good school. It is not even a top 5 public though.

Michigan engineering is not an easy admit. The acceptance rate is 13%. It’s likely even lower for OOS.

https://www.engin.umich.edu/about/facts-figures/

Emory’s acceptance rate is 10%.

https://apply.emory.edu/discover/facts-stats/first-year.html

The average ACT for UM engineering is 34. Emory is 33-35.

They are very similar. With Michigan having the 5th best undergraduate engineering program in the country.
