Who do you imagine you’ll be shooting? Other than the people that whoever steals the gun from you shoots?

Whoever who is stupid enough to come inside uninvited at night.

They'd likely shoot you with your own gun faster than you could shoot them.

People make this argument all the time with absolutely no evidence of it. Those of us who keep firearms by our beds (I'm a 50s something woman who does) have been trained and know when and how to use them. Please, show me a time when someone has had their own gun turned on them in their home. I have never seen one.

+1.

My guess is: you’ll get tons of hate from people disagreeing with you. But they will supply ZERO evidence.

I’m with Kamala on this issue.

Me too. But first they have to get past two Rottweilers, and the alarm system. That's determination.

before you claim there is no evidence of it, here is an NIH study that says you're wrong.

And here is this as well:

Residents who don't own a handgun but live with someone who does are significantly more likely to die by homicide compared with those in gun-free homes, research shows.

Whoa - it really is true.

I’ve changed my mind on this.

Kamala is smart and she’s right. I am going to get a gun for home defense. Plus will take a training course.

She was trying to appease those gun-loving rednecks she knew would not vote for her if she said anything different.

I think she’s just being practical and honest here.

Sorry, not sorry. I agree with Kamala.

I’m a good shot, but don’t have a gun because I don’t trust myself to not shoot first and ask question later. Before I remarried, I almost maimed a family member who entered my house at 3 AM without notice.

DH, SS, and one DD are all gun owners and more patient than I am.

You are privileged to have a choice.

It took 30 minutes for the police to come, and when they did, one officer told me "welcome to DC, my wife sleeps with a gun under the bed, I recommend you do the same." We had lived in DC one week.

That is incredibly random! Sorry that happened to you, and so weird none of heard about it because that is a super rare occurrence that would spread like wildfire around the neighborhood, and the officer's inappropriate comment would have been fodder for multiple ANC meetings.

Has feel like Kamala has taken the practical approach here in getting a gun to protect herself & family. It’s not an unreasonable approach.

I mean, I wish we lived in a world where violent home invasions never happened, but that’s not the reality of where we are.
