Sizemore-Heizer Running for Braddock BOS

Anonymous
Well, Rachna has a pic posted on x with her support of GMU president over the DEI mess. Pictured next to her is Kyle McDaniel, who, i guess also is protesting in favor of GMU president.

So, I guess that is two votes for sure to keep boys in girls' locker rooms and thumb nose at the feds.

I don't think Moon has an election website out yet.

But, the GOP would be smart to find a decent candidate, because I don't see any School Board member being a popular choice.

The Democrats are running based on the assumption that Walkinshaw will win and need to vacate his BOS seat. It’s hard for a Republican to announce now because they’d also have to assume Walkinshaw will defeat his GOP opponent.

Even so, if the GOP can find a moderate candidate in the John Cook mold to run in Braddock, they’d have a good chance. Moon comes across as senile now and Rachna is a total narcissist. And both are complicit in the current boundary study mess, especially Rachna. Neither deserves a seat on the BoS.

I've lived in Braddock District for a long time. I have neighbors active in FCRC and while some of them are reasonable and interesting people, some of them are crazy. And they can never, ever find anyone non-crazy to run. I hate it, because we need 2 functioning parties in Fairfax County. Anyone want to step up?

He is my neighbor and the nicest, down-to-earth guy. He's held a lot of local leadership positions in the area, and he is absolutely not a maga republican. Ken's brought our community together and really lowered the age of those active in the civic association. Everyone respects him, and most of my friend group thinks he is a phenomenal candidate (even the liberal democrats like me). He is very moderate and I am pretty sure he has been friends with John Cook for years and has similar approaches to the county and braddock.

Glad to hear they’ve got an opponent, especially one as strong as this.

If I were running his campaign, it’d be non-stop coverage of Sizemore-heizer and moon relentlessly pushing the boundary changes through. Add a sprinkle of Sandy Anderson and McDaniel, and you got yourself a winning campaign. It’s all on YouTube.

Best of luck, Ken.

Ken will be lucky to get more than 35% of the vote.

I'm one of the quoted PPs, and while I agree with this he's got my vote. He's not focusing on fringe issues or even national issues (which it's always laughable when local candidates do, as they can't impact them one bit). He's focusing on things that acutally impact me as a Fairfax County resident. I mean, I'm kind of ambivalent about the state of Lake Accotink; we've never enjoyed our visits there all that much. However the multimodal improvements to Braddock Rd and reducing the commercial vacancy rate seem like solid policies. I like that he leans right, but supports immigration in certain ways - you don't find many of those politicians these days even though it used to be a popular position in the Republican party. I like that he's pretty clearly calling out the school board for their fiscal mismanagement and just blaming Richmond for "underfunding."

To be fair, national issues are relevant to Fairfax county. Trump’s indiscriminate layoffs are going to have a huge impact on our economy. The supervisors need to stick up for Fairfax. It really doesn’t help that Youngkin supports the mass layoffs of his constituents. I think FCPS has been poorly managed but the state underfunds education in Virginia (says the state’s own study) so the burden falls on the county. Hopefully Balbuena is able to break from republican establishment to protect and advocate for Fairfax. It will be interesting to see if he is in maga thrall. If he is, no chance of success. If he isn’t, probably still no chance but better.

Also, he probably needs his own thread in metropolitan politics forum, not this FCPS thread.

It’s relevant to the FCPS forum that Rachna has been spending her summer working on a strategy to escape the School Board and also pitting School Board members against one another, rather than doing anything to improve FCPS.

Why hasn't Kyle McDaniel resigned?

Innocent til proven guilty. But, at least he is no longer Budget Chair.

Where was Rachna tonight when LBSS hosted a boundary meeting? Has she decided she's already won the BOS race after getting McKay's endorsement? She can't be bothered to show up for her constituents? There were plenty there and they weren't happy.

Not that Moon was any better. He was a no-show, too.

There's nothing better for a School Board member than being able to capitalize on their modest name recognition to get elected to another political office before the impact of their bad decisions as a School Board member have been fully felt.

Sizemore-Heizer is playing this game very well. Terrible School Board member whose decisions as a SB member will hurt families, but she won't be around to take the heat.
