Wonder if Moon still intends to run? Betting is up! Will Moon and Rachna vote to comply or resist? I say they will abstain. |
Why wouldn’t Moon continue to run? He has a decided advantage over Rachna and the new guy will run as a Republican - his first two endorsements are John Cook and Pat Herrity. |
Ken will be lucky to get more than 35% of the vote. |
Depending on the status of the boundary review at the time of the election to fill Walkinshaw's seat, strongly disagree. Granted, Braddock is being treated with kid gloves in the current boundary review (shocking, given this upcoming election) but people may realize they won't be so lucky next time. |
DCUM is not Fairfax County. I bet most people do not even know there is an election |
Which means that the more motivated will bother to vote, and a lot of the more motivated voters want to send the School Board a message. In a BOS election in which either Moon or Sizemore-Heizer stands to be the Democratic candidate, it's a good opportunity when the SB itself won't be up for re-election until 2027. |
Braddock voters aren’t going to vote for supervisor based on the boundary review. It’s not that big of an issue for them (or for most of us). I will say Ken seems to have a better background for supervisor than the school board candidates. |
We really can only judge Moon and Sizemore-Heizer by their tenures on the School Board. If you're happy being sent from Woodson to Fairfax, or the uncertainty about other future boundary changes, they may well be your candidates. Otherwise, you might want to consider the alternative. |
This Republican seems not crazy? I'm up for donating to him if nothing bonkers comes out about him in the next few weeks. I don't live in Braddock so donating is all I can do. I'm still voting for Walkinshaw for the House but my money goes to the least MAGA-ish Republican who runs against Sizemore-Heizer and Moon. If my kid is gonna lose all her friends at school to appease their dubious motives, it's really the least I can do. |

Rachna just put out a press release saying she’s picked up endorsements for BOS from School Board members Sandy Anderson, Robyn Lady, Karl Frisch, Seema Dixit, Kyle McDaniel, and Marcia St. John Cunning.
Putting aside how this is going to affect the internal dynamics on the SB with Moon also running, and why Rachna wants an endorsement from a SB member sued for embezzlement, is that really how these folks should be spending their time? These lazy dolts can’t bother to explain where the money is coming from for KAA, and they continue to sit by passively as this debacle of a boundary review unfolds, but they’ve got time to play party politics? We can’t get these people out of county government soon enough. |
Bye Rachna. You aren’t getting any more grandfathering that you wanted our kids to have. |
It’s obvious the recent Policy 8130 amendments on grandfathering were intended to help Rachna get elected to the BOS. These people are no more subtle than they are honest. |

The alternative to Moon and Sizemore-Heizer is Ken Balbuena.
Here is his web site: kenforbraddock.com Pretty sure that, if he's elected, his top priority won't be scoring muscial gigs for one of his kids to open Board of Supervisors meetings. He also sends his kids to school in the Annandale High pyramid, so he walks the walk, unlike some of the limousine liberal Fairfax politicians. And I don't see anything to dislike in his campaign priorities, although that probably won't stop Rachna from using Karl Frisch money to attack him. |
I'm one of the quoted PPs, and while I agree with this he's got my vote. He's not focusing on fringe issues or even national issues (which it's always laughable when local candidates do, as they can't impact them one bit). He's focusing on things that acutally impact me as a Fairfax County resident. I mean, I'm kind of ambivalent about the state of Lake Accotink; we've never enjoyed our visits there all that much. However the multimodal improvements to Braddock Rd and reducing the commercial vacancy rate seem like solid policies. I like that he leans right, but supports immigration in certain ways - you don't find many of those politicians these days even though it used to be a popular position in the Republican party. I like that he's pretty clearly calling out the school board for their fiscal mismanagement and just blaming Richmond for "underfunding." |

Rachna thinks an endorsement from Kyle McDaniel is a plus. The guy wasn't even showing up in person to School Board meetings for a while because he was such damaged goods.
LOL. |
