Your ignorance is embarrassing. Aquablades aren’t tech suits - they’re just a regular Speedo model that lots of teams use: https://us.speedo.com/aquablade.list

Your ignorance is ridiculous and I am not PP from Metro Swim. Aquablades are a performance suit that are approved for 12&U. They are expensive too. Kids will wear them when they are not wearing tech suits. The suit is supposed to channel and repel water. It is a ridiculous choice for a summer rec league - for price alone. If DR could get everyone in a $400 tech suit I am sure that they would. But, not just DR. All of them. There are teams that collect club swimmers gently used tech suits so the non-club swimmers will be able to swim in the dual meet in a tech suit.

That is not summer league. It is ridiculous. Fox Hunt will have 25 kids in tech suits for a Saturday morning. WHY? No kid is going to college on NVSL times. It is crazy.

For real? why is it that the teams that come from lower divisions and have moved up fast are always INSANE!

Someone is still struggling to cope with their loss to fox hunt. I don’t recall seeing this at all when we swam against them. Their 15-18 groups didn’t have very many club swimmers and those groups were definitely weaker than the rest of the team.

Or the pp must be thinking of another team.

We swam against them last summer. We were not even a threat to them. I think we counted 20+ tech suits. The reps said they were going for records. They didn't tell our rep either in advance. So apparently half of the team at that A meet was going for a record (I think two happened). We found it to be crazy.

No need for bitterness. Their fast rise could be because of their coach, who has moved on.

Their head coach is also the head coach of the Capitol Sea Devils South Run site. He played favorites with the kids who also swam for Fox Hunt. Multiple 12U kids on Sea Devils switched to NCAP Burke or other teams this year.

Know nothing about favoritism etc but 13&u kids moving from smaller teams to bigger teams is pretty much an annual tradition in this area. Some kids jump off the hamster wheel and go the opposite way too. The fact that most of the better Sea Devils swimmers at that site have stayed put probably means he’s been doing something right.

Isn’t this the coach who jumped ship over to Donaldson Run? He has big shoes to fill, replacing a long time and beloved coach at DR who, from what I understand, was treated very poorly by pool leadership on the way out. Hope the new coach knows what he is getting into. Luckily the league handed DR a division win this season. After 4-5 years of hanging around in Division 1, they finally go back to where they belong as a neighborhood restricted team.

Does anyone know what team the old DR coach is moving to?

What the heck happened to VA Run to drop from Division 6 to Division 10?

They were terrible last year. Completely overmatched in D6.

I wish they were in our division. I love their pool. If you have an away meet there, volunteer for table work. Its air conditioned and has a two story balcony for watching the races.

Honestly, they have the best facilities in NVSL. I think they have ten lanes.

I was under the impression he was not moving to an NVSL, but have no idea. There are still five teams looking for head coaches and a bunch of assistant coaches as well.

He was not treated poorly at all - there were years of constructive feedback and opportunities to show growth. It was time for a change and he even acknowledged that after his initial temper tantrum. That said, the initial temper tantrum was a window into the impulsivity and dramatic self-involvement he put a decade of team reps through. No one disputes that he is a great technique coach but that’s not enough.

Interesting. We have friends there are they were devastated that he left. They were really upset and are nervous about the new coach (who I hear is good).

Personally, I love it when kids wear aquablades, skins, tech suits for regular old A meets. It gives them a false sense of security, so when the actually fast club swimmers suit up for Divisionals/All Stars they don’t know what hit them.
