There are fat people everywhere, not sure why that was so shocking to you.

Wearing pajamas...
No, I do not see 250 lb women wearing pajamas everywhere.

You haven’t spent much time in inner cities I see.

Or just go to the DC General Hospital waiting room. Whole bunch of obese people watching soap operas.

DC General Hospital?
Where exactly is that, Cletusbot?

Not seeing any "people of Walmart" here. The people in this picture look utterly normal.

Maybe in Ashburn!

I would 100% prefer to stop at a Buc-ees than the South of the Border mess.

South of the Border is a haven for racists.

Not really.

It is, however, simply vulgar and frequented by disgusting obese people.

There are at least three obese people in that photo alone, as well as some weirdo still wearing a Covid mask.

The food is fresh and good and the bathrooms are spotless. We plan our pit stops around them when driving to/from FL.

I hardly ever saw another person at all when I drive through so where are they all hiding? But in reality, South of the Border was actually one of the first integrated motels in the south where black motorists could stay without being turned away for their skin color. It was created by a Jewish businessman who was know to be a decent (not-racist) guy.

There are definitely pps on this thread that have never been to some of the places they are naming.

Anyhow, I won't be making a special trip for Buccees. If I drive by, sure.

Interesting back story. Yes, we stop at South of the Border every year precisely for its cheesiness and to take stupid photos and to buy fireworks.

I went today for the first time. The pulled pork and brisket sandwiches were very good; the bathrooms were clean and the gas was cheap ($2.69/gal vs. $2.99 up the road). I could see if you were a kid it would be fun with a wall of candy and all sorts of toys. stuffed animals and the beaver image everywhere but as an adult, I don’t really understand the hype.

Ick. It’s a maga business.

A road trip to support a MAGA supporting gas station? Stay classy, Americans!

Bunch of parochial snobs here. I grew up on the east coast, live on the west coast, and spent many years abroad and then in Texas. After comparing the cultures of all of these places, my only takeaway is that when people dismiss things as flyover, they’ve never spent much time in the middle of the country or they have a chip on their shoulder about how nice certain aspects of flyover country can be.

Buc-ee’s is clean, has good quality hot food, is a safe place for people of any background of color to stop for a break, and is friendly, welcoming and accessible. I can’t say the same about many fancier and more beautiful parts of the mid-Atlantic, Pacific NW, Europe or New England. As a mixed family we’re never the only ones who look like us in Buc-ee’s and that makes it a very appealing place to stop.

You have not stopped at the one in East Tennessee . All patrons are the same. No diversity for as far as the eye can see.

I have never been to Buc-ee’s. My DH refuses to stop there when we travel. Lol.

Texan here and that place is crazy overrated. I avoid.
