The Trump administration cut the Healthcare Preparedness Program ($240M) which provided funds for select hospitals across the US to be able to appropriately isolate and care for a patient with an emerging pathogen such as a Viral Hemorrhagic Fever like Ebola or Marburg to prevent it from getting out in the US. If you recall, when US saw an Ebola patient a decade ago, a nurse got infected and the same happened to a nurse in the UK. Pretty sure we don't want these diseases spreading in the US and it is worth the investment. It requires infrastructure (like multiple negative pressure rooms adjacent one another, a lab and autoclave immediately nearby), specialized PPE like PAPRs, and ongoing staff training on the protocols to ensure they are ready. New strains emerge all the time and we are also cutting overseas aid to assist with these outbreaks. It is only a matter of time now.

But one single jet cost $80 to $100M and can roll into the sea. Our military needs a major overhaul for waste, fraud, lackadaisical oversight, and efficiency of spending. Yet the current administration only wants to increase their funding. I am disgusted.
