BC vs WashU

OP here. Thanks! They seem to like BC but I am a bit concerned that they may be missing on a better opportunity in terms of quality of education and prospects for job placement.

Kid's preference of one over the other outweighs any other slight differences. Chances are better that kids thrive where they choose to be.
Great choices -- congrats!

A 15+ difference in USNews isn’t “slight.” BC v. Rutgers or OSU (four spots) is “slight.”

The difference in ranking between WashU and BC is 16 but who’s counting.

Anyone who wants a pretty reasonable measurement of how the schools stack up. It’s not a small difference.

It is almost like arguing with the village idiot who throws NEU around with the highly ranked schools and refuses to back down. (If you're reading this, please know that when you do that, you don't raise NEU's status in anyone's mind. It simply lowers yours).

WashU is a much, much better school.

The difference is what people say IRL. None of these people would equate NEU or BC with WashU in person, they know it’s an embarrassing stance to take.

Not for business school. Not for Finance.

Its business school is unranked on USNews. So worse than Indiana, UNC, Austin, and Carnegie Mellon, all of which are ranked. As far as finance program rankings go, I’d be wary of any that put BC ahead of Cornell and UVA. T

You can’t even put a number for the business school because it is unranked. Get real.

Exactly. BC is #7 for Finance. WashU is unranked. Still both good schools and I'd let kid go where there's a better fit.

It is laughable to rank business specialities like this for undergrad. BC has a terrible brand name compared to WashU, as many, many posters here have said. Fetishizing some rank on a business minor is no way to choose a school. If you want to compete with U Illinois academically, you do you. Don’t tell others it was a wise choice though.
