If I had to stay home for 12 months with a newborn, I would have gone CRAZY.

Not to mention some parents have jobs and need to work to survive. Skipping daycare isn't an option for many.

You mean just like we all had jobs during COVID too? If it was a real threat and I had a newborn I would stay home absolutely, even if it did suck. That being said-I would think daycare is a more controlled environment since they require proper on time vaccination. So the only exposure they would come in contact with would be unvaxxed parents and other newborns. But I still wouldn’t even take that risk.

Right but its was a global pandemic. this will not have the same response and people only care about babies in the womb

and daycares do not require vaccination. if its exempted by physician its legal. plus on time is 12-15mos. also staff may not be vaccinated. when i asked daycares about requiring vaccinations and verifying they said they couldnt because of hippa. i took that as a no

Ummm the daycare that my children go to absolutely requires vaccination records. You cannot enroll without them. And we get a notice every time they need to be updated. I’m sure some shady home daycares are much more lax about it though.

Yes they require them to be filled out but there is a spot for exemptions by physician. And they dont have to have them on the same timeline as required. The timeline is suggested as cumulative for the age range.
"Exemptions from a physical examination, immunizations, and Blood-Lead testing are permitted if the parent has an
objection based on their bona fide religious beliefs and practices. The Blood-Lead certificate must be signed by a Health
Care Practitioner stating a questionnaire was done.
Children may also be exempted from immunization requirements if a physician, nurse practitioner, or health department
official certifies that there is a medical reason for the child not to receive a vaccine.
The health information on this form will be available only to those health and child care providers or child care personnel
who have a legitimate care responsibility for the child."

So you wont ever know if a kid in your kids class was exempted from vaccination.

My reference to requiring vaccinations in the second part was specific to staff. I am aware HIPPA doesnt apply to me asking whether their policy is that staff must be vaccinated and require proof but the idea that their response was "Its HIPPA" told me two things 1) you dont know HIPPA 2) you are lying because you know outright saying that it isnt required will be an issue for most people because babies arent vaccinated so their caregivers should be and 3) you obviously dont require them so this is a no for me anyways

realistically how many babies in daycare are there with religious and physician care exceptions? In this area, I can’t imagine it’s a significant amount.

You would be surprised. I worked in admissions at a tony preschool for a while and was shocked at the number of families in an affluent nova area that took religious exemptions. It’s an option on the VA state form, and this accredited preschool had its hands tied.

ask your elderly parents first - while the vaccine didn’t’t exist when they were young, both of them remember very clearly having had the measles - my mom even had it twice! So, no need for a vaccine for them, as I understand it.

My mother remembers trying to pick the grapes off the wallpaper when her fever was high with the measles.

they can get a titer to check immunity status. I was exposed to measles (in VA about 20 years ago) and my vaccination records were unclear so my doc did a titer and I had immunity.

You think RFK, Jr--who thinks kids should take vitamin A for measles--will inform parents to keep kids under the age of one at home??

MTG was suggested parents take their kids to "measles parties."

So we haven’t heard of any more cases in the area at this point correct? I can’t find anything when I search.

259 cases, 34 hospitalizations, and 2 deaths isn't enough for you? Give it a week. The numbers will be higher.

“isn’t enough for me?” I clearly said in the area-meaning the Virginia, Maryland and DC area. Why are you so hostile?

I was vaccinated too but I checked my titers and my immunity was low.
Buttercup.

Did they do away with that local law due to the flood of illegal immigrants who have no vaccination records?

School boards appear to be sovereign states.
