Another potential pandemic with a moron in charge.

Except there is a vaccine for measles and most people have been vaccinated at some point in the past 5 decades. |
Sorry, since 1963. |
what is wrong with you? This isn’t a pandemic situation because of exactly what the pp just said. |
|
It’s very hard to contain once there is an outbreak.
|
except when a large enough portion of the population is vaccinated. Also, post your source-not just your feelings. |
| I'm not worried. Recently been vaxed. This is mostly a concern for the immuno-compromised. |
Some of whom are here! Imagine! |
Aka I only think about myself Also is a scary time for unvaccinated babies....currently have a newborn 11 +months away from a vaccine and a toddler with only 1 dose |
Except for little babies, but who cares about them. |
Newborns can't be vaccinated. The vaccination weakens after a period of time, and those with vaccinations during a certain time period should be vaccinated again. I doubt those who received a bad batch of the vaccination will get a memo from the current admin. So, like I said, buckle up. |

This is quoted from the thread about Texas.
"Every baby under 1 year is at risk. Also a 97% effectiveness rate is incredible, a scientific triumph. But it still means 3 in 100 are expected to get measles if exposed. If vaccination rates are high, those 3-in-100 will never, ever be exposed to measles, But when cases are surging as they are right now…those 3-in-100 (which is potentially millions of people if we can’t contain the spread) are at risk. And we can’t really predict who they are. Your loved one? Mine?" |
| I expect that in the DMV that enough people are fully vaccinated that this shouldn’t become an outbreak (herd immunity and all that). Fingers cross that is right. |
| I imagine if it actually becomes a real issue in the area-parents will be advised to keep their kids under 1 home until it’s contained. Really that’s a very specific group and I can’t imagine if it does happen the risk will be for very long. |
+1 It's a super-scary time for those with babies and those with medically fragile kids who can't be vaccinated. An unvaxxed 6 yo already died. And RFK Jr just tells people to take Vitamin A so we have to cope with mis-information from our "chief public health" officials who are mostly idiots now. |
