We did not get in anywhere. I am so incredibly disappointed. Do we have any hope to get off waitlists..

Reach out to Potomac and tell them they are your first choice and if extended an offer, you will accept. It’s highest probability of the 3 schools.

Actually Maret would be the highest probability now.

lol no

For those interested in rational thinking and data, the AISWG collects these data as well as yield data. Both Maret and Potomac admit about 10 kids into 4th . Potomac has 100+ applicants and Maret has appx 80. The yield is higher at Potomac as well so the likelihood to get into Maret is both higher for decisions and wait poop. But lol no

How do you find this data?

I think this is definitely frowned upon but if you have a legitimate reason-like you work for the govt and you’re really worried, I think that present day circumstances could provide a believable reason.

Anyone familiar with WIS or GDS admissions? DC didn’t get in for 6th this year (waitlisted at GDS) and I’m wondering if later years he might have a better shot (or if this was it.) Thanks.

Many many examples of kids being denied and then accepted later. In a weird world, they assume that the yield of second-time applicants is high if accepted, which helps.

You always have a shot if you apply again. Some schools will give you bump if you're a repeat applicant.

It’s made up. Don’t buy into the absurdity of the “know it all” poster.

Burke rejects and there is movement on the waitlists

We are - declined acceptance in elementary and applied again for 9th grade, accepted again! By one of the big 3.

Daughter waitlisted for prek at Norwood. Disappointed but still young. Any chance she will get off the waitlist? If not, will try again next year for K and broaden applications

Did you go to another private school for elementary though?

Hope is perfectly permissible but waitlist clearance is unlikely. Next year is a better shot though.

Norwood had a TON of siblings applying for pre-K this year so I imagine there were very few spots open. Definitely apply again for K!!

I’m sure there are some anecdotal stories of that happening, but it’s not likely. Why should a school take a chance on a kid a second time when they were turned down the first time, given how many excellent applicants all the schools have? If you really want to be there, take the spot now.

This. Unless something big is happening such as a job loss related to the current situation it could work against you to decline.

I’ve never heard of an Admissions Fund. There are Annual Fund drives at most schools, so it’s possible that they have another child at the school already and donated to the Annual Fund.

It was a joke.
