Ouch my arches! |
DCUM touristing moms could not get more ugly in their footwear if they tried.
A bunch of 38 year olds who seem to have universally, across the board, orthopedic issues. A statistical miracle. let's be honest - with all your terrible arches, and orthopedic issues, you're not walking 25k steps in paris. You'll be on your feet for 1-2 hours in total. Comparable to what someone who lives in dc proper or manhattan does in a standard workday. Why the need for something so objectivley ugly? |
I wear Sorel Ella sandals and can walk for like 10 miles in them. Seriously endlessly. They are built kind of like Tevas (with an arch support from the strap), but they look more delicate . I also Birkenstock Gizeh. Also comfortable but I can walk longer in the Sorels. |
European women, of all ages, are wearing comfortable sneakers with dresses, skirts and everything else.
Go look at a live web on Youtube in any foreign big city and you will see this is a fact. Besides the sheer number of steps walked in these situations, remember that it is often on uneven surfaces (cobblestones) and up and down many stairs. |
Stubbed toe risk? |
I agree. I guess the OP is remembering back to the 1980s when American tourists could be identified by jeans and white sneakers. Now the whole world wears jeans and sneakers. |
I follow someone who traveled the world for a year with only a single backpack, thus limited clothing and shoes. Walked a ton that year and wore these:

Classic Chacos. Your search is over! We walked 10 miles a day at the Disney parks in these comfortable shoes. |
Not bad for keen |
Agree. Those Olukai sandals are so flat my feet would be killing me after wearing them for 5 minutes. |
have you walked in London or Paris lately? I’m with that PP |
Yes. My favorite sandals lately are NAOTs. Specifically I have an older version of the Kayla that I really like. I will not win any fashion awards, but I'm also not trying to go to the opera in them. |
Hoka has loafers now:
