Comfortable walking sandals to wear with skirts and dresses in Europe

I want to like Borks but they just do not have the arch support I need.

OP if you want something a little dressier, the Viviaa ballet type flats are okay. I can walk a few miles in them but not like 7-10 which is what I often do on vacation.

I wear these fisherman sandals when I need to walk a lot and often get complements https://earthshoes.com/collections/best-sellers/products/berri-casual-slip-ons-in-medium-blue-r-berri-mbl02?_pos=35&_fid=d149f05c4&_ss=c

I have a European aunt in her 90s and this is pretty much what she wore in the summer since at least 1980. I thought they were awful when I was young but now I adore them.

Tevas. You can walk for miles in them, use as water shoes in pebbly European beaches, and they look good with pretty much anything. They have a stripped down architectural look which can be pulled off as intentional and stylish. To wit, loads of high end designers produce their own spins on them.

NP I think these are the only shoes posted that are actually decent looking and would be comfortable for some walking so TY. I don’t think they look like they have enough support for many miles but I’m going to try them on at least before passing final judgement.

I daresay this is not a common problem. You are very precious.

Yeah if you feel this way, don't wear sandals. Most of us - esp those of us in sandals - don't get "skeeved out" by open toes in cities. You can go home and wash your feet.

DP but come back to me when you’ve had a rat crawl across your foot in Paris. Ask me how I know

I'm not going to ask but that sounds awful and I'm sorry it happened to you. Are you suggesting no one should wear sandals now?

This happens in New York too

I have these

in a gold leather and I absolutely swear by them. I'm 100% with the PP whose feet boil in sneakers, so even if my feet get gross, I just clean them and carry on. I have worn these to Europe, to Disney, and all over various US cities with loads of walking. And I have flat feet, so that's saying something.

OP here. Thanks for all of the recommendations, I have looked into them all and ordered a few to try.

As an aside, I am totally grossed out by the photo reviews that random people will post! I'm not one of those "anti feet" people but some of those photos are just disgusting! I want to read reviews without looking at that yuck!

Sezane do some lovely flat sandals

Actually, Europeans now wear sophisticated sneakers. Try On shoes. Those are really nice for walking around everywhere and they look great with dressy skirts or pants and don’t make you look like your are going down to the farm with a fanny pack strapped to your waist.

I agree that none of these are "cute" but rather than just throw shade, why not post an example of a cute sandal that would be great to do a lot of walking around in as a tourist?

Sure, you'd look like less of a tourist in these

But truly, I would wear trainers. Your feet get disgusting in any city if you wear open toed shoes.

With most of those they wouldn't just be disgusting, they'd be bruised and bloodied.

What's with all the wedge love for cities with uneven rocky streets?

Maybe they travel by palanquin.

These Rothy's are very comfortable but I know not everyone likes slides:

There are their new buckle slide that are similar to Burks but likely more comfortable.
