I've looked online at a bunch of Sketchers options. Maybe something like this? Looking to spend less than $100 as I don't know how much I will wear them apart from traveling.

Why do you care about looking like an outsider? You ARE an outsider. You are a tourist and will look like one. Why do you care if someone notices? It isn’t like you will blend in any case…

Just because you're an outsider doesn't mean you have to look like a schlumpy tourist. I live in NYC and walk all over the place.

I've posted 2 Birkenstocks. Here's another brand:

These are very cute but are they honestly good for walking?

Just wear AF1 or sambas. Sketchers are hideous.

Here's my problem with all the Birk/Noat supportive sandals - sure they are supportive but I get skeeved out by having open toes/feet in cities.

Anything as comfortable/supportive as a Hoka but not ugly? I feel like all the skateboard type sneaker suggestions don't have any support.

Historically I have just given up and worn sneakers with dresses/skirts.

I daresay this is not a common problem. You are very precious.

Last time I was in France holidaying with my French relatives, they were all wearing running shoes. In recent years they've worked out these are comfortable shoes for sightseeing.

I bought a pair these of Tevas last spring and wore them all summer with everything, including skirts and dresses. The sole is thick and supportive.

That's.....really weird.

I have a lot of orthopedic problems and usually wear birkenstocks to work but don't love walking in them all day. I wear these fisherman sandals when I need to walk a lot and often get complements https://earthshoes.com/collections/best-sellers/products/berri-casual-slip-ons-in-medium-blue-r-berri-mbl02?_pos=35&_fid=d149f05c4&_ss=c

I'm the PP. I don't know. But I prefer walking with a wedge rather than a flat. But I've been in NYC for 20 years, so I am used to walking in regular shoes vs walking shoes. But the brand is supposed to be good for walking.

I like these a lot. But if you don't normally/regularly wear thong sandals, it take time to break in feet between the toes.

Yeah if you feel this way, don't wear sandals. Most of us - esp those of us in sandals - don't get "skeeved out" by open toes in cities. You can go home and wash your feet.

Europeans wear sneakers! I want to scream this from the very rooftops of this forum.

There’s no way I could wear something like that for walking more than a half mile. It would be Bunion City. I bought a pair of flat vioic sandals for my trip to Europe and they were super comfortable. Better than sneakers honestly and I wear them all summer. I also got a pair that I think were Walking Cloud or something. Also good. I tried on Taos, Reva, Born and some other brands but ended up with these.
