Read the lawsuit linked above. The MTA entered into agreement with Federal Highway Administration to toll the bridges and tunnels (which are federal roadways)

Sure shut down the bridges and tunnels to NY city. That will be a good move. Really help the economy.

Don’t tempt them with a good time!

However, from a GOP perspective, shouldn't tolls be left as a state issue without federal tampering? This just looks like petty overreach.

Yeah, whatever happened to states rights??

It only applies to red states. Remember how McCain et al overturned DC voters on gun control?

This is what you get when you elect a bridge and tunnel President.

A lot of motorists like it.

For people who do drive into New York, it makes the traffic a lot more manageable.

Clearly, you don't know what "bridge and tunnel" means.

All my NJ friends think it’s made things much better.

It was a pleasure to spend the $9! I was surprised so little would make such a difference. And a friend of mine that lives in the zone is happy as well, quality of life is up with less cars on the street.

Spoken like someone who does not appreciate that 9 dollars daily is a lot to many people

You know nothing. Lots of folks complained and complained but a month in and tradespeople, Uber drivers really appreciate it as do bus commuters, etc. If you don’t live here, then focus on your red state bans on drag shows and reproductive care and leave us alone.

Ask the neighbors if they like it and no the trade people do not like it. My family are trades people and no they are not simply passing on this is crazy.

yeah, right

You are joking right? Working people not at peace. Rich maybe but not working. people.

Working people take the bus, train and subway and particularly for people who bus in from the suburbs, it has cut commuting time by more than half. They are thrilled.

That makes no sense.

They previously preferred to drive into at 2x the time duration and pay for parking monthly over much shorter in time public transport option?

Usually it’s the opposite: 90 minutes of changing trains, subways and busses versus 45 min drive in traffic.

And you clearly know nothing about NYC metro area. NJ and outerboro commuters are reporting that their bus trips are dropping by 10-15 minutes.

“Policy changes often take years to show results. Even then, you may have to squint to see them.

And then there’s congestion pricing in New York.

Almost immediately after the tolls went into effect, they began to alter traffic patterns, commuter behavior, transit service, even sounds…”
