What working people? The ones who are commuting in from the outer burbs in their cars by themselves? Because it’s not the tradespeople passing it on or the delivery guys who are getting their routes done more quickly and cheaply.

Surely the nighttime delivery people are not hit with daily congestion fees?

It’s mainly for targeting the tourists’ taxis, business travelers’ taxis, and rich people expenses black cars going back and forth.

She’s some SAHM who drove in to the city at like 11am for a lunch and left after shopping but before peak rush at 4pm+. Easy peasy.

The peak time is 5:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.. outside of that it is 75% less.

Working people take the bus, train and subway and particularly for people who bus in from the suburbs, it has cut commuting time by more than half. They are thrilled.

Between the long $$$$$ cab and uber rides due to lack of driving lanes, the cannabis stench everywhere, increased crime, doubled taxes and surcharges on everything… why would you choose to visit NYC for work trips or leisure?

Clearly you do not live in NYC because none of what you are claiming is reality.

If you live in Manhattan why would you care how much it costs to drive into or out of the five boroughs? Unless of course the high congestion fees were negatively affecting your nyc business or foot traffic.

If you are driving in, by yourself, for a white collar job in the congestion zone, $9/day is nothing.

They previously preferred to drive into at 2x the time duration and pay for parking monthly over much shorter in time public transport option?

Usually it’s the opposite: 90 minutes of changing trains, subways and busses versus 45 min drive in traffic.
