DCPS just announced that after school extracurriculars are canceled but aftercare for elementary level students will still be held. I have to say, DCPS is looking pretty reasonable on this. At this point I am not seeing much evidence that weāre gonna get much accumulating snow before dark. |
Half of the Walls teachers have left and there are just tons of kids in Commons sitting around. I can pick up my kid, but I wish they would just release her and she can metro home |
That's mostly the same message for MCPS (for the DCPS teachers working in DC but living in Moco). |
Iām loving this idea. If they need a job, we need teachers. But this will only work if they come emotionally prepared. You donāt really know how hard teaching is until you do it. Itās not easy, like so many on this site believe. Itās long, inflexible hours and very overstimulating. But you do get summers āoffā (as you go to trainings and do unpaid prep for the following year). |
It's snowing heavily in DC right now. |
oh, no doubt teaching is an awful, awful profession. Certainly sounds like it from this board. But being destitute is worse. |
It's not sticking and roads are not icy thanks to heavy salting. Conditions won't become questionable until after 5:30 or so when temps start to go down. |
I was responding to a PP who suggested making Wednesday the PD and having school Friday. Which would mean parents would only need care for Wednesday, and not for Friday ā but seems like that would mostly just mean people can't get refunds for Friday care they would no longer need. |
How do you know that? I am a Walls teacher and lots of teachers were there the entire day. |
There will be no school tomorrow. |
Itās here. Not hear. The fact rhat you made that mistake twice is really egregious. |
Hear. Hear. Like with your ears? ![]() |
sorry but PP is correct. It is hear. As in, "on this board, teachers hear that they should quit or get fire." |
Roads are a disaster already in my neighborhood. Not sure they treated them but the snow is sticking and itās very slippery. |
Well now it's an hour after 5:30, so... |
