Perhaps, but I think he's too practical to want VA to take huge hit on employment numbers, unemployment payouts, and lost tax revenue and spending in the state. I don't agree with him politically but he doesn't strike me as dumb or impractical.

Except many large VA employers are government contractors. That is one of his big selling points to drawing companies to VA. The access to the federal government in a business-friendly state.

He hasn't done much of anything to draw companies to VA that have nothing to do with the government.

I think we need to wait and see. When the budget comes out, if agencies are instructed to cut programs and spending, they will 100% cut contracts IF they have the choice to proceed as they see fit. The way things are going, it looks like reducing spending isn't the ultimate goal - getting rid of feds is.

um, destabilizing the dollar is the goal. to do that you need rampant unemployment, removal of most subject matter expertise from the government (that includes contractors), legal uncertainty, and confusion. it's taking more time than they hoped because the markets are refusing to accept it. add in a bird flu pandemic and tuberculosis and the workforce will be hungry and terrified and desperate, so give it a few months.

I called his office yesterday and stated my opinion and urged him to consider the impact of uprooting / disrupting the federal workforce on the VA economy. Whether he will listen or not is another thing but I felt good making my voice heard.
