No school on Thursday due to ice?

I don't understand this... If it is safe for families and child care workers to reach the school, why isn't it safe to have school?

Those populations are not on school buses. This is the price we pay to have buses.

If it's icy, there will 100% be a delay or closure.

And Taylor would be ensuring his tenure at MCPS is short-lived. And without McKnight's buyout.

Idk I honestly really like him and think he has the best one we have had in the past six years since I have been in the county. I really enjoy how quick he is with his announcements instead of having to wait until the day of snow at 6am to see if we had to go to school on time, delayed or not at all. His videos are also very fun even if they’re cringy.

He's the best I've seen in a long time

Feds can’t hold the entire district hostage anymore. There are a significantly higher number of non-Fed parents who have different priorities. That’s why open house was moved from the federal holiday in October to whenever schools feel their families are best served.

Many people in the private sector have to work in-person, too. Taylor's days are numbered.

No one's holding Taylor responsible for your life choices

But they will hold him responsible for his choices. Including unnecessary closures and delays.

DP. Closure and delay decisions that make a subset of people unhappy have been part and parcel of life in MCPS for decades, through many superintendents, and will continue to be so. There are enough serious and real problems for the BOE to hold the superintendent accountable for without expecting weather clairvoyance. This is nowhere near as big a factor of their job performance as it looms in your mind. They're not out of line with any other district in the area.

They certainly can, but I doubt they will

Not enough time.

Some are following the McPS email that says all AM programs and childcare are closed while some are opening 2 hours later than usual. Feels like the poorer schools are getting punished for following the rules. I’ll have to take a full day off work if my kid can’t be dropped off until 10:45 tomorrow

Sounds like it was a miscommunication. KAH initially said they were opening at 9am, but now they are not opening in the morning.

MCCA also just announced that they won’t be open for before care tomorrow (after initially saying they would be)

High schools can open at 9:45 but working parents of ES students are SOL until 11am or later.

Definitely a big fat middle finger to working parents.

Try working on changing to swap ES and HS start times.

I would argue that it is you that is hellbent on giving someone the finger rather than the school system taking precautions to protect children. Do you have fat fingers?

Did you not understand that this is about MCPS not allowing private childcare providers to operate in the morning tomorrow?
