No school on Thursday due to ice?

will send update by 6am so unlikely that it will reverse this time at the last minute like last month. Could go to code red closed if the can't clear it by delay start

JFC….cannthe county and MCPS not coordinate such that it’s now a delay for a wintery mix that might result in 1/10 inch of ice

All the counties north and west of dc are delayed.

If it's icy, there will 100% be a delay or closure.

And Taylor would be ensuring his tenure at MCPS is short-lived. And without McKnight's buyout.

Ice is serious. Keeping kids safe with a delay or even a closure if it doesn't melt is not negotiable.

You're an absolute clown for suggesting otherwise. You not wanting a delay isn't the metric they use to decide.

I agree. I think they close way too early and too much for snow but ice is an entirely different beast. Delay if not closure is the smart move.

If there is ice, anticipate closure.

Feds can’t hold the entire district hostage anymore. There are a significantly higher number of non-Fed parents who have different priorities. That’s why open house was moved from the federal holiday in October to whenever schools feel their families are best served.

ES parent here: why is there a discrepancy between before care providers about opening tomorrow morning? Some are following the McPS email that says all AM programs and childcare are closed while some are opening 2 hours later than usual. Feels like the poorer schools are getting punished for following the rules. I’ll have to take a full day off work if my kid can’t be dropped off until 10:45 tomorrow

That's strange. It's appalling to me they are already announcing child care programs can't even open 2 hours late. Smh

Besides being a terrible idea, it isn't legal.

Many people in the private sector have to work in-person, too. Taylor's days are numbered.

Will that hold? Or will MCPS prevent them from opening?

Can they reevaluate and decide to have school on time? As in code green?

They certainly can, but I doubt they will
