I am open to the possibility. But that does not equate "it was one hundred percent a lab leak" the way you seem to conclude. Do you understand the difference? |
New poster - the early science absolutely did show a strong probability that COVID could have been a lab leak because of the DNA sequence and cleavage did not seem natural and there were aspects to it that suggested manipulation. At a minimum it needed to be discussed as a valid theory with no less credibility than the naturally occurring theory. Incidentally, there was an infamous meeting between Fauci and a bunch of prominent virologists early in the pandemic when they first got their hands on the COVID DNA and a bunch of emails do show these virologists were openly talking about this possibility of a manipulated virus, but then suddenly after the meeting the official consensus was clear, not a lab leak but with no explanation why not. From that point onward, the entire establishment went into a bizarre overdrive to shut down lab leak theories as wacko conspiracy theories. But, even if just because of Occam's Razor, pretty much any intelligent person knows COVID was a gain of function lab leak and NIH funded the research indirectly via EcoHealth Alliance and Fauci tried to simultaneously cover the tracks AND protect the entire scientific research industry by manipulating the official narrative way from lab leaks. They were certainly afraid that Trump would weaponize COVID against the Democratic "deep state" in the 2020 elections and use it as an excuse to gut scientific research funding thoroughly. I am not going as far to say Fauci knew what EcoHealth was doing and it's very plausible he didn't, but he had the ultimate responsibility of oversight (FYI investigators from NIH doing quality control review did flag the Wuhan lab for failed security practices just prior to COVID). Incidentally, it's why Fauci's pardon from Biden dates back to 2014, which is the year the Obama administration banned gain of function research and it was illegal from that point onward. But what a coincidence that the pardon dates five whole years before COVID, har har har. By the way, there is no evidence whatsoever that COVID was naturally occurring either. We still haven't found the alleged original bat colony if it was naturally occurring. But we do know there was a major virology research lab in Wuhan. What a coincidence. And it's also an amazing coincidence the Chinese government reacted as if it knew exactly what had happened, normally with a new virus it takes time to figure out there's something more than a worse than usual winter flu and by which point the virus would be circulating wide and far (which we know from how quickly it spread everywhere - except within China!). I've been to China multiple times, I know their system of high speed trains connecting the whole country. That COVID could get to Italy but not Shanghai or Beijing is certainly an amazing coincidence, eh? I'm aware some people prefer to persist with their "naturally occurring" beliefs because they cannot countenance the concept that not only were they wrong for the last five years, but that the entire establishment, from the Fauci and many of the presses, effectively lied to them in the name of safety and good. But that is what happened, unfortunately. I am not a fan of Donald Trump at all. Not at all. But if one of the few good things to come from his administration is an open and honest investigation into exactly what happened in Wuhan and the NIH role in funding research that may have triggered it, and the potential cover up by senior US health officials, that reckoning of truth will be very important if we are ever to restore confidence in the US government, which is critical for the next time we have a pandemic. |
Agreed!!!! |
It takes an average of two years for a novel zoonotic virus’ intermediate host to be identified. Five years later we still don’t have one for Covid 19. |
I thought it was low confidence? |
+1000 dems got got. |
The early science absolutely did indicate a lab leak was likely. The emails discovered between the nature researchers, even before they published an article saying otherwise, showed this as just one example. |
Trump suspected a lab leak so the liberal media reflexively insisted it must have been from nature and companies like Facebook began suppressing the debate. It was pure politics. |
The point is that US intelligence is saying it is plausible. This is diametrically opposite of what the entire scientific community and the press initially said during COVID. The scientific community was close minded and castigsted anyone who promulgated the lab leak theory. It makes the public lose tons of faith in science and govt institutions when they reject potential truths, simply because they may be unpalatable. I mean how disturbing is it that it is entirely possible millions of deaths and massive economic destruction are simply due to careless human behavior and error? |
You think only 1 million died? Are you kidding me? Check your numbers Einstein. |
It may be "low confidence" but let's be clear, this is now the preferred theory behind COVID: https://www.nytimes.com/2025/01/25/us/politics/cia-covid-lab-leak.html |
Not to mention this is just CIA. FBI, DoD, House oversight committee have also weighed in to say they believe it was a lab leak. |
I don’t think it matters which theory gets amplified. You can’t take the pee out of the pool. |

Us intelligence is also saying ETs are plausible. Come on. |
