The Monday after Easter is mandated by the state and taking a day off the week prior breaks up the vacation week…. |
| Nope. Even if they add more days that week my kids won't be going. |
+1 |
People have travel plans then. Kids visit parents/divorce. |
I don’t have a job starting in 6/16, but in years past, many camps that recruit teachers hold their onboarding the day after public schools get out so that they can start camp the following week. If you skip onboarding, you are fired. These are great jobs that pay well with lovely kids and parents. It’s hard to give them up and stock at Target or bar tend at the country club for the summer over one day. I’m past those years financially, thank God. However, I had the opportunity to do a seminar at an Ivy League university one year. We had two makeup days that year. I missed the last makeup day because I had to be on campus in another state by 8 AM. It was fine. The principal I have now would never allow a personal day like that’s |
| Why not use the June 6th Professional Development day? |
| So the Friday before is a full day now, right? |
| Nope. She’ll already be at sleepaway camp |
Yes. |
| Sending mine. I'm a teacher so I need the coverage. |
Lunar new year and Eid, respectively |

OMG people have to take their kid to school one more day
This is why we have king Con as president Why did you people have kids? Seriously why in the world are you complaining when the US is dying a horrible death this is what you are concerned about? Bird Flu human to human contact confirmed you all thought Covid was awful for schools RFKjr and Bird flu should be more of a concern than one more day of school omg |
| As an AP teacher, this was the stupidest possible decision. There are several other days that could’ve been used for instruction rather than cutting into another week for families in the summer. |
| Can mcps go back on this decision like they did for the two hour delay this week? |
