| My kids would not attend. Glad that I did not sign up summer camp hosted at public school that week. They will attend camps and I assume private camps will operate on Monday, right?? |
| It’s funny that they bothered to convert Friday, June 13th to a full day when they had to add the half day on the 16th to the school calendar. We’d have the same number of instructional days regardless of whether the 13th is a full day or half day, so they didn’t have to make it full day, and there won’t be any instruction anyway, so it doesn’t matter. |
|
I give them credit for that. It would have looked pretty bad to add just a half day. |
| Were we not all set up with chrome books and told to be ready for code purple virtual learning days for this very reason? It looks like “code purple” has disappeared from MCPS websites, what happened with that? |
| Nope, we already made travel plans. |
| There is no code purple - the state eliminated the option to do virtual snow days. Everyone should be contacting Thomas Taylor, the superintendent. There is no reason to publish snow make-up days on the calendar if we aren't actually going to use them. |
June 16 was listed as a snow make up day, though. |
Yes, this. We still have Feb and March to get through. Plan on additional snow days extending the year further. |

| When my now 11th graders were in elementary school, MCPS had an explicit written policy that if snow days had to be made up, the days would be added to the end of the year…but then we had so many one year, they took back part of spring break. Now they list potential makeup days, but skip all earlier ones and just add on to the end of the year instead of using them. They’re consistent in their inconsistency. |
Huh? Most people aren't going to send their kids in on Monday. |
Yes, camps not at MCPS facilities will be on. |
Agree htat is what they will do, and that it's useless and most kids won't attend. I guess it'll give teachers more time to take apart their classrooms. |
No matter which week the last few days of school are, there will be lots of kids absent. |
