I’m not really on social media so I apologize if this is a dumb question but doesn’t Instagram have the same videos? Can’t the “influencers,” etc move over there?

And this somehow isn’t a giant effort to manipulate us politically?

Yes it is very much political manipulation from a foreign entity. Don’t forget the mention that Trump had over four billion views and understand the value of Tic Toc.

It’s TikTok.

Okay this could have happened on YouTube as well. Wasn’t Justin Bieber first noticed on a YouTube video? And that singer with the Patti Labelle “Patti pies” singing its praises became a backup singer because of his YouTube breakout fandom singing about the pies. What was unique about tic toc that is making people lose their minds when there is concern about national security. I honestly don’t get it and nobody has been able to help me understand the angst.

The national security concerns are way overblown. If they were worried about China having access to information they would ban their shopping apps too. The olds in Congress don't understand any of this. This is about American social media companies not wanting the competition. And it is TikTok.

Not sure if you guys watched that entire video, but what the singer was talking about is how the same people in Congress who voted to ban TikTok have been investing heavily in Meta…..

I find Congress repulsive for many reasons including this, but if Tic Toc was not a Chinese government owned company and traded on the stock exchange, those corrupt congressmen and women would also have tic toc stock. The two bad behaviors are not equivalent.

Your continued misspelling of the platform is showing your ass.

I hate TikTok. I never used it.

If I does come back, I hate that Trump will probably look like a hero for doing so.

He's working on something to make "something else" probably that's why MSucker is bowing at his feet. or trying to get MSucker to change Meta to be more addicting like TikTok was for some (don't understand what it was because never used it)

If you're old enough to remember using this instead of a remote control, you probably didn't use TikTok.

I honestly don’t know any adults who were on Tik Tok. I know people on Instagram. I don’t get why people are so distraught over what was clearly a very trashy platform.

Yes. They are all similar and low quality. Threads, Reddit, discord, instagram, facebook, tik tok.

Follow some items, AI sends you more of it, read people complaining about their lives, comment inches them up or reinforce their solitude, and some funny witty stuff. Bfd.

Such a waste of one’s time. It’s designed for doomscrolling, which never ends. It’s not a resource, and if it’s people use it for some info tot hen verify but stay on doomscrolling and getting depressed.
