That makes you a disengaged parent, at best. |
DP, but most people I know are scrolling when they have a little bit of downtime, but not enough time to do much else. I would scroll when I had like 10-15 min to kill, which isn’t long enough to go take a dance class and meet a friend for coffee. Or at night after the kids are down before DH and I hang out. I imagine this is the same way a lot of people use DCUM, so I’m not sure why you are lecturing TikTok users on here. Shouldn’t you be at an exercise class instead? Also, a lot of the most social friends I have are on TikTok. It’s a form of communication and we send each other funny videos that reminds us of each other or touches on a topic we had just been talking about the last time we met up. And we all have jobs, families, exercise, meet up with friends, travel, etc. too, imagine that! |
The experience on Instagram is no where near as nice as TikTok — insta has no pausing, no speeding up…. And the algorithm is not nearly as good. Plus, Zuckerberg made this happen. Don’t reward him.
I feel bad for a lot of the creators I followed. And I feel bad that now it will be even harder to understand the trends of the younger people. I also know when it goes back up next week it’s going to be a mouth piece for the new admin and that scares the ish out of me. |
Because they know people are too....to understand it is manipulating them as they get their high from watching stupid videos |
Are you posting from Sunrise? |
Lots of gen x and boomers (and even some silent gen) on TikTok. Some of the best creators in fact… |
Gone? You need to fear what is coming next. |
+1 Thank goodness Granny D is also on Insta. https://www.instagram.com/grandma_droniak |
I've never used TikTok. I do watch reels on Facebook and Instagram, which I know isn't the same but for me it does it. My 15yo DS doesn't either. He did for a while then we said no, so he uses Insta and YouTube. He could care less that it's banned and said all the creators will just pivot and nothing much will change for him. He's not a big social media user.
The attachment to social media with our youth is DISTURBING. A huge percentage of young kids aspire to be social media influencers when they grow up and legitimately believe this can happen. It's so sad. And now, when Trump comes in to save TikTok he'll gain loyalty among a whole new young demographic who is disenchanted, susceptible to influence, and not very bright. This is America! |
Yep. |
Yup. Let's see how he helps those once in office |
Seriously we are done for as a country. People will now beg to be manipulated. |
Can someone please tell me what the big deal is *for average users,* (not creators/people who make money off of it), because you can just watch stuff on Instagram or YouTube? Who cares? So what? |
Social media is the scourge of this earth |
