My anecdote means a lot to us. This regimen has worked well in our family, and we'll continue it. YMMV. |

Not quite. There was a lot of talk about herd immunity and preventing transmission in the beginning. The talk morphed into preventing severe illness later when it became obvious that preventing severe illness is what the vaccine could accomplish. I think the vaccine plays an important role in public health but, like most things, it doesn’t have to be for everyone. My parents in their 70s, yes. My boys in their teens, no. We all have different factors to consider. |
Many things: - misinformation about the Wuhan Institute of Virology lab being the most likely source, - effectiveness of cloth masks - 6’ social distancing - false claims the vaccine had no effect on our menstrual cycles, etc. |
I was a huge Covid shot fan in early 2021. But by the fall of 2021 it was obvious they were pretty useless for the vast majority of the population. I think pushing them on people before we really understood how effective they were over the long and medium term really kneecapped our public health agencies. Was stupid in retrospect. In any event, whether you do or don’t get the shot for your family, yes, you are all going to get Covid again. And you will all be fine. |
Well, I don't have health insurance through my employer, so it had no impact on their bottom line. But yes, Biden had OSHA push through a mandate that large employers acted on. The public health pressure campaign was relentless and ultimately burned all the trust and goodwill that the health institutions had. Over something that was a nothingburger for the vast majority of the working age population. |
| Teens can get Novavax, fewer if any side effects https://www.vox.com/even-better/391511/novavax-covid-vaccine-booster-mrna-pfizer-moderna |
I have gotten a fever of 102 work every shot. This is the first year I haven't been gotten the covid shot simply because I couldn't fit being sick after into my schedule. I had covid on October though. I don't know i have gotten the every single time except this year and have gotten covid so many times. It's hard to see the benefit. I always get the flu shot and never knowingly had the flu. It seems more effective anecdotally |
Uh oh, that means it’s not even working as well for you. Research shows that more side effects (which are incredibly common for this shot, btw) indicate higher levels of antibodies. |
I disagree with this statement. The initial Covid shots primed our bodies to fight off Covid like the other circulating coronaviruses (aka common colds). Covid was no longer a novel virus for us after 2020/2021. I see no reason to get any Covid booster shots, but I definitely think that the initial shots were necessary. |
| My kids(all girls ) got the initial COVID shot and Booster. My two teens, had horrendous menstrual cycles after both and really messed up the cycles for a few months. I also had a few very heavy/irregular cycles that I never had before or after and I had COVID arm after first shot. We have not done COVID shots since the initial Booster. We always do flu shots. |
No one said it would stop transmission. It was just stop deaths and reduce the load on hospitals. |
Reduce deaths * |
DP. To be clear, I’m not the type to ever use the phrase “lamestream media.” But at the time of the initial shots, most were under the impression they were going to stop transmission, until reports of “breakthrough infections” started to trickle out. Remember those? Then there were so many breakthroughs that they had to say, no no no, they were never going to stop transmission, they’re just to reduce severity. |

Back to OP's question -- flu shot only. My kids did the original Covid but that was it.
Now if someone would develop a vaccine for mono I would be all over that one. That thing is a nightmare. |
