If you weren’t a covid shot fan, dis you chg your mind? Did you give it to your teen?

We have been so busy, no excuse, we haven’t had our flu shots never mind our covid shots. We usually get a flu shot, kids only received 1st and 2nd covid shots when they came out.

Should I bother at this point to get both shots fir our teens or just get one, the flu shot? What have you done? My teens are 16 & 17, healthy.

This will probably get moved to Health. We have done the shots every fall. We got delayed this year and just got them a few days ago. We got both Covid and flu. Two parents, two teens.

I read recently that the latest Covid shot has only been received by about 20% of US adults and 10% of US children.

YES, get everything done, OP. Flu season lasts until April or May. Covid is year round. Please do it.

I prioritize flu shots. Flu can be especially bad in young and heathy people. But not COVID. We haven’t had COVID shots after the initially 2-3 doses yrs back.

A bit of the opposite. We were shot fans and got all boosters through last year, but now aren’t. Not against them, just not actively trying to get appointments for Covid or flu shots this year.

Flu scares me more than Covid these days. But since I’m going for the flu shot anyway, we just get them both. I don’t think I’d make a special trip for Covid though.

Yes, it is not too late in the season to get your flu shot. My family gets flu and covid shots yearly.

BTW, your kids being "healthy" has nothing to do with them catching a respiratory disease. Any of us can catch it. Being a healthy young person makes it less likely (not impossible) they'll die, but it's still not fun to be sick.

May I ask how your teens are feeling today? My tweens were completely knocked out by the covid shot the next day.

All of us are completely fine. None of us had anything but a sore arm, which we always get. Did you get Pfizer? That’s what we got. I got Moderna for the first two and reacted worse to it. We’ve gotten Pfizer ever since, and kids only ever had Pfizer.

Both kids got the Covid shots, neither got the boosters. Our doctor didn’t recommend them and we don’t plan on ever getting them the boosters. DH and I got one booster early on and didn’t get any more after that. Looking back, I regret giving the initial shots to my kids but caved to the pressure here.

Same.

Did not want to get fired from my .gov career, so got the 1st and 2nd Covid.

We also needed it for our “Covid passport.” we were NOT allowed to travel without the Covid vax-card / aka “passport.”

Would have gotten it anyway; we believe in vaccines. But we have not gotten the 3rd Covid shot. Most people (something like 80%) have NOT gotten the 3rd shot.

We always get the flu vaccine.

Always got covid and flu shots for everyone, didn't this year, daughter has had covid and influenza A and missed 12 days of school in 5 weeks. Deep regret over not getting these. We all got covid.

No, nothing happened except more research has become available on the shots and how effective they are or are not. I had some longish side effects with each shot. It makes me second guess the decisions that I gave these to my children.

11:17 and I needed to get them to keep my job. At the time, I gave them to my kids thinking it was the right thing to do.
