We all got the flu shot in October and DH and I got the Covid booster in September. Just got my kids the Covid booster a week ago as cases are starting to surge. My 12 year old got Novavax for the first time (Pfizer previously so curious about cross protection) younger child has just been getting Pfizer bc not eligible for Novavax yet. If there is another wave before the summer, DH and I will get a Novavax as an extra boost.

Flu is everywhere.

The vaccine lessens the severity if they get the flu.

Why would you want your kids sick unnecessarily for extra days? So hard to catch up on missed school days.

Ask the pediatrician.

Why are people okay with being sick 4-6 days? So blase about losing a week of your life to illness!

I vaccinate to reduce amount of sick time if I get a virus. I enjoy life too much

Of course. We're not ignorant.

None of us have kept up with it over the past year or so though. Doesn't seem worth it anymore.

Why haven't they combined the flu and COVID shot, seems sus

They're working on it but initial tests weren't as good as getting the two separately.

We did the two required and that’s it. Covid is milder now.

We all got them every time unless we got COVID first, which two of us did once, so we skipped that one. None of us ever had side effects, but getting COVID was awful.

This. It is unclear who exactly will get long covid or serious covid. Protect yourself and your kids. The long covid specialist we had to consult for our college DD said in addition to vax, everyone should take paxlovid for covid infections.

Go ahead and get your medical guidance from anonymous jokers on DCUM if you prefer that to your MD.

Also, they are worried adding Covid to it will decrease uptake of flu shots due to paranoid people like those on this post. But yes for those of us getting both, one stick would be nicer than two.

Covid doesn’t adhere to a single season like flu so they really shouldn’t combine it. We should be able to get it when we feel it is most effective (if at all). It just benefits big pharma to combine them.

All of us (parents, kids) only had the first Covid shot—original Pfizer (that was two shots) back in 2020.

My kids are males, athletes and all of the heart data concerned me. None of us have ever tested positive for Covid, now 5 years later. Never got a booster or variant shot, etc,

My kids have had all required vaccines, get flu shots, etc. I think we have the genetic variant so Covid doesn’t affect us. We have been exposed closely before and still nobody has gotten it.

^ so no never got any Covid shots after the very first original ones when they were first released. Last one 5 years ago

I’d never get it let alone give it to my child. Wake up people

Because even if that were true - and I’m not sure the data is very conclusive on that …the covid shot made me feel terrible for a few days (vertigo). Covid itself made me somewhat sick for 5 days and the two times I did get Covid did not line up at all to when most get covid boosters (April and early sept) so why would I guarantee myself feeling bad for a couple days to reduce something that I’m not even sure I’m going to get?

My husband only had Covid once in July 2021 (4 months after his shot 😆) my 17 yo never as far as we know.
