All of my friends who went to UMD in the late 80s/90s say they would have never gotten in now...


That's the case pretty much everywhere. My friend who went to Princeton and whose DD was rejected said her daughter is a much better student than she ever was and that she (my friend) wouldn't have gotten in now. College admissions has gone off the rails.

Population is growing and education is improving. You can't keep cramming more people into the same old small boxes.

I’m not holding my breath that my 3.97/4.8 RMIB kid will get in. Geographic diversity matters at UMD, and many kids with similar stats have applied.

It varies a lot by high school. Check naviance and ask within your school.
